To Dance With Ugly People

" This book is an emotional roller-coaster ride that grabs at every emotion. I shared in the protagonist every mood and emotion. Also, the fact that she educated herself are some of the parts, I enjoyed about the book. What displeased me was her return to Dane after experiencing such an abuse and disrespect to her and their son. Also her emotional depency on men, which leads to trouble; abuse etc. I will forward this book to my cousin and friends. Thank you for a great read "

Deep dark and beautiful

"This book is beautifully written, I love the story about a black women who is lighter, I’ve never come across a book like this. As a girl who is often confused as mixed race when in fact I’m black, it’s amazing to read a book about the small struggles I have! I know for a fact, that this author has taken creative writing courses - it’s so good. I would say that this book has a trigger warning but this book is nothing short of what my dad forced me to read when I was younger. It displays real ness! But realness is also very hard to digest. This book is so good, but trigger warnings (I can’t disclose) but be sure. There’s trauma. "

To Dance With Ugly People

"I love the character and her love for her son. She makes mistakes but she really tries to find ways to be at peace, I understand and respect that. Though, I'm kinda hoping that by the end she finds success on her own, independently, without a man coming in and "saving" her (if that makes sense? I just feel that with all the struggle she went through in her past, she'll have a much better life finding out that she 'did that'.) But even if this was not to happen, I still love the story. The punctuation and grammer could use just a little more work, but overall the wording in this is so sweet :) Thank you for making this novel, I started it like 3 days ago and I'm almost done with it?? I rarely do that now-a-days and it's making me go back to when reading was my hobby.♡"

Dancing with Ugly People

"I like the authors style of writing. The grammar and punctuation is on point. This book is very painful and touching to read. I wish Danis ordeal could have turned out differently. Nobody deserves to suffer from birth until death. Dane wasn't supposed to get away with his sins and just when everything was coming alright fate decided to take Chance. As much as this novel is fictional, it is full of life's reality. I would recommend this book to my colleague. Lastly, I have rated it 5 stars because of the authors gift to narrate and the use of language. At first I was very skeptical to notice that 'to whom it may concern' is distracting my concentration, however the story line took me back to focus to a point which I took over the main chacters place. So very sad and touching. "

Clever and Emotional Read!

"Where do I begin?? This story is told through letters from Dani's youth all the way into her adulthood. The author portrays all of the struggles that her character suffered through as a child including abandonment and resentment. As she grows older, life challenges her even more with desperation, fear and unrequited loneliness but she has courage and strength to carry on. She still believes that someone is out there who can give her the only thing that she has always been searching for, true affection and respect toward the woman she has become. My love for Dani and Chance grew as the story continued. While Chance is not mentioned through the entire novel, but as someone whom Dani meets along the way, I found myself relating to her perceptions and emotions with this character. I kept longing to see Dani's happiness. Every time I read about Chance, I smiled whenever she smiled because he was her light and that made her happy. I am going to be honest and throw in my input about some of the scenes in this book. Some were tremendously difficult to read through and I felt sick to my stomach at times but there is so much truthfulness to them. The author wants her readers to understand the pain and hardships that plagued Dani's life so that you can understand her strength and the measures she took to find happiness. It wasn't easy and it is not for everyone, but I absolutely recommend it to anyone over the age of eighteen. Both men and women can read this because this story does not have a specific gender preference, in my opinion. While the story is written in a series of letters by Dani, the main character, it is by no means too feminine. Sometimes, I would find myself getting frustrated with her for some of the choices that were made; however, everyone has to make choices that they regret at times, for loved ones. I give this book five stars because it was very well written and creative. There is so much raw talent that is encompassed into this novel; therefore, I was unable to put it down for the most part and I enjoyed having learned some new depths of life."
