Chapter 1 A Humble Beggining

Zanerth woke up in the barn on the itchy hay that lay against the wall for the horses. He rubbed his eyes and sat up slowly. "Geez what a night..." He mumbled as he remembered that he drank a bit to much whisky and did a little to much with the girl from down the road. "Mmm hey zaney.." the girl mumbled next to zanerth making him jump. She lay next to him naked and her clothes laying next to her sprawled out. "Hey Lexianna" he said as he stretched and grabbed his clothes to dress himself. "How much do you remember from last night?

"I umm remember drinking with you, flirting, coming out here, then the rest is blurry..." She looked down at herself. "But apparently we had ALOT of fun!"

Zanerth befan to feel uneasy. "Can we keep this to ourselves for now? Can't have our parents finding out huh?"

"Sure thing zaney, but your mine now," she smiled softly. Her beautiful green eyes and long wavy blond hair complemented her high cheek bones and plumpy lips.

"I mean if you put it that way," he smiled back as his jet black hair began swaying from the draft that came in through the barn window prompting Lexianna to get dressed.

"Suns coming up, might wanna get something on before someone comes in" he said looking at her bust from under the blankets, "don't want them to see ya naked do ya?"

"Why? You gonna get jelly?" She jabbed and smiled to show she was joking. "Nah I'm worried you'll catch a cold!" He joked as he yanked the blankets off and she yelped. They shared a giggle as she got dressed quickly. "I have to go home real quick and pick up my staff, have those test today." Zanerth said and kissed her goodbye. "See you at the usual spot,"

"Yep see ya when I see ya," she grabbed her sword and scabbered that she always kept with her. She was always precatious, even when she was with Zanerth. She was a knight after all.

Zanerth jogged to the glorified shack that his family called a home. He stepped into the house quietly and gingerly grabbed his oak wood staff with a cotton grip secured with Maplewood sap. He was almost back out the door when his father spoke up from his chair in the darkest corner of the room. "Leaving without a word after not coming back in the house last night?"

"Sorry father I passed out in the barn,"

"That would explain the red circle on your neck," his father mused as Zanerth whipped his hand up to his neck. "Yes sir totally a horse bit me..." He mumbled nervously hoping his father wouldn't know. "Outside. Now son." He father said with authority. With his head low Zanerth walked outside stepping on dying grass, spring was around the corner so it was muddy and murky out.

"Staff up!" He bellowed seemingly bringing out his staff as he strode out the front door with as much grace as a jaguar stalking his prey. "Father isn't it a bit early for this?"

"It's never too early for a battle, now staff up!" His father scolded as he bonked his son on the head. Zanerth rose his staff and not a moment to soon because his father struck at his side. He swatted the attack away and went to sweep at his father legs. His father jumped, spun mid air, and kicked him sqaure in his chest knocking him back a few steps. "Rule number one: your staff isn't your only weapon," he said as he spun his staff and brought it behind his back and motioned zanerth to attack. Zanerth answered with a side swipe followed by a back kick. "Good! Now with more ferocity!" Zanerth ran and jumped and extended his leg aiming for his father's chest. His father sidestepped and brought his staff to Zanertths back using his momentum and pushed him behind him. Zanerth landed, rolled, and turned just as his father brought his staff a centimeter from his face. "Your good son but you've a ways to go, but I am proud of the man your becoming. Also next time introduce me to Lexianna before you bed her. Wouldn't want your mom finding out!" He laughed wiping the sweat from his bald head making his intracate tattoos marking him a grandmaster monk gleam in the dawning sun. Zanerth flushed red and nodded. "Now off to school before I tell your mother you took a shot a baby making with her best friend's daughter." He jibbed and walked back into the house. Zanerth collected himself and strode toward the road ready to start his day after an eventful morning.

"Lexianna here I come," he smiled.
