Chapter 0.5 - Pilot
The storm that forms in this terrible night is the only thing that reminds me: I'm still alive. The drops of rain slide through the sides of my face, entering my open wounds that are still bleeding after all this time.
The streets are flooded with water and blood. Blood of all those who died. Some by my hands, some on their own. The screams are still echoing in a loop inside my mind, almost like torture. All I did, I did to save them. Those people were not themselves anymore; they just did not know it.
Beyond the greatest mountains, I can sense thousands of soldiers marching towards my directions, but I'm not their target. They are searching for power, the same one that made mankind lose their sanity in the midst of chaos and ruins.
With the powerful will to destroy anything and anyone on their way, they ride fast, getting closer to the ruins where we lay, to the ruins we destroyed. If I close my eyes I can feel them, the speed of their horses and the hunger for blood. Despair can be distinguished from miles away. The fear of losing their lives and never see their families ever again. But nothing can stop an army with a purpose. The purpose to possess the power to control anyone and anything. Even if it costs more than they will ever receive.
When the rain starts to get heavier I know it's time to go back to the hideout. The others have already returned, leaving me all by myself. I begin running towards the place, climbing trees to escape the flood caused by the rain. In the middle of the way, an arrow crosses the trees, almost smashing against my face. Running a little bit faster I finally get to the ground, finding my way towards my enemy.
I run towards two figures standing right in front of me. One is laying in the ground, possibly dead. The other one is standing despite the blood that comes from its injuries. From what I can see, the arrows have come to an end. Without thinking twice I jump and take my enemy to the ground. With a little fight, I finally pin both the arms in the ground, gaining control. The mask covering the face don't let me know whether it's a man or a woman, but right now it doesn't matter. I must kill before I get killed myself.
I take from my back pocket a dagger and I place it on the neck of my enemy. But I accidentally cut the strip that holds the mask in its face, and when it falls I come across the most piercing violet eyes. Eyes of a girl who is not willing to die.
