Prologue

The next great leap in evolution is currently living under the Anderson’s refrigerator. It is a fungus, of a tall and crystalline structure, like a patch of spikey, iridescent hair. It will never have a name or clear scientific definition, as its life will be short, soon to be ended by Jennifer Anderson’s cleaning. During its brief life it will contaminate one cookie shared by Travis Anderson and his ten-year-old daughter, Emily Anderson.

How this fascinating organism strives to survive in different hosts is our story.
