Chapter 1

GWEN

“Hello child.” A sudden voice said, it was sad, like, he’d lost something, or been foolish. Gwen Parkers shot straight up, the arch in her back gone, and her pencils rolling off the sketch book that she was supposed to be her older sisters but apparently the only person who didn’t know that her sister, Aryn, would never even touch it, was the person who got it for her, their uncle, uncle Gram.

“Oh my. It was not my intention to startle you.” He said, sounding genuinely concerned.

“N-no its o-okay” She stuttered. She was just seven. It was surprising she actually spoke to him, though she still scolded herself on the inside for stuttering.

“I didn’t see you” her voice was small, and quiet, yet full of personality. He cocked his head.

“I’m quite sorry, little one. I didn’t want to bring anyone else into this.” Those were the last words Gwen heard before a cloth of chloroform went over her nose and mouth, knocking her out within a minute.

MILES

Miles Thompson eyed the man around the corner. He’d seen enough movies to know he was being followed. Miles turned a sharp corner and ran for it. He knew every road in around his neighborhood. Even if he could catch up with Miles, there was no way the man could possibly know which way to go. Except there he was, just around the corner. Thompson ran the other way. His tail just mysteriously appeared right in front of him. “Please don’t make this harder than it has to be.” Said the mysterious figure. Miles looked at him. He had beautiful white hair, yet he looked really young. His abs were huge, it seemed like he could lift a truck!. He didn’t carry one imperfection. Snapping himself back into reality, the eleven year old kicked him in the shin, but it wasn’t nearly enough. The man didn’t even react! Suddenly a handkerchief full of chloroform wrapped around his face, and he went out cold.

ELENA

Elena Sanchez walked along the sand, scowling at the ocean. She frowned as she threw stones into the water. Tears streamed down her eyes as she shook her head.

“Are you alright?” Someone asked quietly. She spun around.

“Yeah, I’m -uh- I’m fine.” She sniffed.

“I’ve got problems myself.” He muttered. Elena nodded.

“Trust me, if there’s one thing I understand, it’s problems.” She chuckled. “Problems, problems, problems…” Her voice trailed off. He chuckled.

“I’m in a certain… situation right now. And I really hate it. I didn’t want to drag anyone else into-” He stopped himself before he gave his identity away because he knew that she was smart enough to run if he just explained himself in the open. It wasn’t time yet. He cleared his throat. “Like I said,I don’t want to do this. He lunged at her, grabbing his rag of chloroform, and smothering her in it. Elena tried to yelp, scream, anything. But it was no use, there was no one there. That was why she liked this spot. Because she could be alone.

MILES

Miles woke up in a blank room. He rubbed his head and tried to remember the events that had just happened. He gasped and seemed to spiral into a corner. The man… He looked around, noticing two other people. They were waking up too. The girl with wavy ginger hair, and emerald eyes screamed. Tears filled her eyes. “Where are we!?” She cried, sounding horrified. The other girl had light brown skin, dark brown hair with natural highlights, her eyes were blue with golden flecks. “Who are you guys… where are we! What happened!” one of them shouted. Miles looked around at them. The light brown skinned girl scowled at him. “I’m I’m Miles. Miles Thompson.” he stuttered. “Did you take me!?” She pressed. “What- no!” Miles insisted. She scoffed. “For some reason, I believe you. I’m Elena Sanchez.” They knew enough for now. Miles watched as Elena slowly walked toward the red head.

Miles and Elena were both about ten, but this girl was little. Six at the oldest. What would their captor need with a six year old? What would he need with ten year-olds? Everything was going blurry.

“Shh,” Coaxed Elena. “It’s ok- my name is Elena, and this is-” She paused and looked at Miles. “Miles! There, his name is Miles. We’re not going to hurt you. What’s your name?” The girl looked at her. “Gwen” She said in a tiny voice. “Hi Gwen.” Elena smiled. “We’re going to get out of here, ok?” Gwen nodded. Elena kicked at the blank, clean white walls. “Let us out!” She yelled. There were no doors, no windows, just white walls and floors. She grunted and out of nowhere, one of the walls opened just enough for a door. The man who kidnapped them ducked, and went through. “I believe you wish to speak to me?” He said sounding thoughtful.
