NORMAL. Most people described themselves as to being "normal" but were they really normal? Who's to know they were something completely different? Shit. Complete bullshit.
Ravus stood up from his desk chair and made his way to the nearest window and deeply sighed. He remembered the day when he was separated from the people he once loved and treasured.
He had lost someone dear to him on that day too. It had been long ago, but he still remembered every detail, every word yelled, everything was chaos, he was just fifteen years old but now he was twenty.
Five years sure do fly by quickly, he thought. No one knew about Ravus and his family, anyone would look at them and think they were a normal everyday family like everyone else. But what they didn't know was that Ravus had a dark secret, a secret he promised himself would stay hidden.
Ravus was not normal in his own eyes nor did he think he was like everyone else, he was different. He would often look at the other little children his age play in the park while he was in his room practicing piano or reading books.
He was always told by his parents, "You can not go outside, you'll look into the little children's eyes and scare them. Best stay here where it's safe."
Whenever he was told that he would cry out loud that he wasn't normal, he wasn't like everyone else, that his parents hated him even though they did love him dearly.
Ravus was just a little boy with a warm smile wanting to explore the world. But he couldn't because of what he was and who he was.
On the day he turned seven his mother told him something that changed everything about him and the path his life was going to take. It changed his mind on exploring the world, it was now cruel and dark to him.
"The master, your father, wasn't an ordinary man, he had the will to turn whomever he looked at into stone. Right now, people in this household hold abilities that are not normal."
His mother lightly stroked his curly jet black hair, while he read a book about monsters and creatures admiring the art, "Ravus, the reason you could not go outside was that you hold an ability within you too. From now on, you can not look at anyone for more than five seconds, except the people in the family. It is a secret that must be hidden.”
Days passed, months and years. Ravus grew his hair long enough to get bangs to hide his crystal green eyes, by now he grew accustomed to avoiding others and their eyes.
Except, for this one particular human named Ava, his best friend. She was not an ordinary girl, he described her as an adventurous, unfrightened, brave...attractive.
"Why don't you cut your hair? It's far too long, you'd better get a haircut by mid-August, we start school soon." She as well as him, had jet black hair except hers was longer, silky and smooth. Her sun-kissed skin made her hazel eyes beam with delight.
"I'm better off good like this, I don't like getting attention, not that I get any." Ava softly laughed at his statement and gave him a warm smile.
Ravus looked at her, she was his first love but he could not bring himself to tell her, he would be too embarrassed and nervous. He sighed and looked up at the sky and saw the blazing sunshine bright, it was that time of year when people crawled out of their comfortable, safe houses to enjoy the hot breeze.
Summer. Also that time of the year where students get prepared for the beginning of another school year, he dreaded going to school just the thought of it made him wince in horror. He was going to be entering his Junior year of high school at the same old school he attended since the start of his freshman days.
As the sun was getting ready to rest, he thought everything was going to stay the same and be okay, until an unexpected event happened later that day.

Ravus was starting his piano session when his father burst to open his white room door, swinging it widely. "Son, we need to vanish out of here immediately!" He was caught by surprise and grew confused instantly.
"Why father? What's wrong?" His father frantically paced around his room mumbling to himself like a madman, "Ravus, they've found out. They've found out about our abilities and now they're rioting; they're coming!" Ravus was speechless and his facial expression in horror, nothing came to his mind except anger and confusion.
How could they turn their backs on us? Was everything the town said to be a whole lie? Lies. Just fucking lies.
He smashed his fist onto his desk, "Father, let's go. If they touch any of my family, they'll have to deal with me!"
They got all of their things and everyone in the household was ready to flee. Ravus' mother, father and the butler, three workers that were working around that time, were all freighted but strong.
"Mother, father, everyone. Are you all ready?" All of them had their belongings in a medium-sized suitcase. The immortals he called family all nodded, "Let's go."
Just as they all were going to leave, disappearing from the small towns sight. They heard people screaming and yelling outside. Fuck! They're here! He squeezed tightly on to the handle of his suitcase, "Oadwell, hide mother, father and the workers in different locations of the house, you as well. I'll deal with these humans."
Oadwell looked at him angrily, Ravus' father stepped in front of him a few inches away from him, "Ravus! You can not handle such amount of people on your own!" He looked at his father sadly, "Father, I can do this, do not worry. I'll change their minds, I can do it trust me."
He hugged his father tightly and showed a warm smile. "Go now! I'll take care of this!" They all ran to hide, leaving Ravus behind.
I love you all.
The front door once shiny white was now broken down. People surrounded Ravus, yelling and screaming, "Get out of here you demon!", "How could you lie to us!" He set his suitcase down and took a deep breath, "Listen! Everyone, we were not here to harm you, we just want to be normal! That's all we ever wanted!"
The town people didn't bother to hear him they all kept yelling foul sentences and words. As Ravus was trying to stay civil and calm, he caught the eyes of a certain someone he knew well. Ava. Her hazel eyes watery and red, she quickly averted her eyes and turned around to run away, sobbing.
I'm sorry Ava I've loved you but couldn't bear to tell you that nor my secret. Forgive me.
He was starting to get mad at the humans started pushing and throwing things around. Then a sudden gunshot went off and screams arose.
Everything went silent.
Everything was frozen.
"Mother! Father! Oadwell!" Ravus snapped, his abilities releasing, he turned to the mob of angry, coward humans, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE, YOU FUCKING FRAIL HUMANS! I'VE NEVER ONCE THOUGHT MYSELF AS ONE OF YOUR KIND!" The huge mob fell to the ground, unconscious, unable to move.
Mother, Father. Oadwell, Jess, Andy, and Clin, you were all loved. Your smiles as bright as the sun. All of you cared well of me, thank you. I'll never forget the day when I saw all of you laugh happily and peacefully.
Ravus quickly made his way upstairs and saw a track of blood puddles. No, please no. He followed the track instantly, leading him to a secret closet door.
He opened the door to find his father lying on the floor lifeless, his mother and the others sobbing loudly. Ravus ran to his father's corpse, "Dad! No please, dad you can't do this to me! Wake up!" He looked at his mother sobbing uncontrollably, "Ravus, he's gone. He saved us from the man, it should've been me! Me!"
He grabbed his mothers hand and hugged her softly, "Father is in a better place now, we have to leave now. I've frozen them for only a few minutes." He wasn't himself anymore, he felt as if a part of him had died. As if he had been killed. He felt numb, a walking corpse.
Ravus and the others gently carried his father's corpse to his room. They dressed him up nicely in his favorite suit, placed him in his bed and tucked him under the covers gently. He looked at his father, his body lifeless, Ravus felt tears form in his eyes sliding down his cheek slowly.
I'll protect them, Dad. Don't worry, they are now safe with me. I will always hold you in my heart wherever I go.
Ravus picked up his suitcase from the wooden floor and took a deep breath, It's up to you now, you'll have to help your family Ravus, you're going to have to protect them no matter the costs.
He turned around and saw his loving family, strong and ready to fight whoever and whatever came in their way. Ravus didn't know where they were going to go but all he knew was where ever they went they would be safe because they had each other.
He made his way to the broken door, stepped his right foot outside. And looked around o
Alright, let's see where this shit takes us.
