Drumming my fingers on the steering wheel of my beat up Mercury.

This is not going to go well at all.

I got out of the car and looked up at the old farmhouse that used to be my home. Walking up to the door, I tried the knob and was surprised to find it unlocked.

"Hello?" My own voice echoed back, almost sounding somber as I walked through the halls. As I opened the door to my old bedroom I found that all of my old stuff was there.

What's going on? As I looked around I found a note sitting on my bed addressed to me.

I sat down, feeling the down comforter that I had since I was ten. Opening the letter my heart started to drop as hopes of ever seeing my family again diminished.

"Hailey,

I imagine that you wanted to see your mother again before I made you leave. I also imagine that you've noticed that everything is still in the house.

I have taken my wife and gone on a long over due vacation. You will never see her again, let alone talk to her. You will grab everything of yours and be out of there by the time we get back in a week. Everything that is left will no longer be yours."

I reread the letter over and over again as I felt tears streaming down my face. Looking around I got up and started packing.

I slammed the door shut on my car and looked back at the house. "I hate you too Dad," I got in the car and leaned against the steering wheel. As my sobs shudder through my body, I let all of the things I've bottle up for eleven years come pouring out. Rage and sorrow came out in soup crushing avalanches while the few fond moments kept me from crumpling underneath of the weight.

I was pulled out of my tantrum by my phone.

I took a shaky breath and wiped my face with the back of my hand. "Hello?"

"Hey you ok? You said you'd be back by four"

I got lost in the voice of my boyfriend and looked at the clock as it proubly showed 9pm. I sighed as I started up the engine. "Sorry, I just lost track of time"

"You coming back soon?"

"Yeah, I'm on my way now"

"Ok see you soon"

"Yeah, see ya soon"

With that he hung up and left me to my thoughts as I pulled out of the driveway that I knew I would never be able to be in again.
