Chapter One
“Inseparable”
Abraham was filled with joy today; his best friends were coming over for his twelfth birthday and he couldn’t ask for a better group of friends. He had been friends with Sarah, Joseph and Mary since he first learned to walk. They were all the friends he needed and the only ones he wanted at his party. Abe had it all planned out; first they would play all their favorite board games (Monopoly, Sorry, Life), then they would finish building their secret club house they had started at the beginning of the summer. Abe was filled with an incredible feeling of content and he looked up at the sky, “Oh thank you dear Lord, this is going to be the best day of my life!”
Sarah could barely contain herself, it was Abe’s birthday and she could not wait to give him the present she bought him. She had known three months ago that Abe wanted a black, red and shiny blue guitar with a glowing metal exterior. She had saved up all her baby-sitting money that summer and sold her bike to get it! Abe was the one she was destined to spend the rest of her life with. She often had visions in her dreams of beautiful people who shone like the brightest stars in the evening sky who would tell her that Abe and she were born to do great things and that together they would be a great force that would be unbeatable. Sarah had been through a lot with her best friends Abe, Joseph and Mary; but Abe always had a special place in her heart. Abe always was very polite to her and would always share snacks with her, he even gave her his gloves one winter when she had lost hers; whenever Sarah was in trouble Abe was there. Sarah looked up at the beautiful evening sky; “Oh God thank you for bringing Abe into my life!”
Joseph or Joe for short, knew this was going to be an awesome day, he could not wait to give his best friend Abe the new Play Station game he bought him; it was full of adventure, fighting and mayhem, just the kind of game Abe and he loved to play! Joseph and Abe had a keen sense for adventure and understanding what the other was thinking without even speaking. Joseph would look at Abe with a raised eyebrow or a quick smirk and Abe would know exactly what to do. This would come in handy especially when the two of them had to get out of sticky situations in school with their teacher or just the right tactic to make in their martial arts class. Joseph had an ulterior motive for being so happy this day as well; Mary was going to be there, and he had waited all summer long for her to get back from vacation; today he was going to ask Mary to be his girlfriend. Joseph had grown up with Mary as well and over the years he watched as she became as pretty as the angel his mom put on the fire mantel. Joe was convinced Mary was the prettiest and sweetest girl in all of Sierra Vista, AZ. Joe closed his eyes then opened them and looked up at the stars; “Thank you God oh thank you!
Mary packed her play clothes in a separate bag, but she wanted to arrive at the party in the beautiful dress her father bought for her while they were on vacation. It was a silky pink with soft lavender trimming and turquoise blue shoulder straps; with it she wore her new light blue stockings and shiny black heels. Joe was going to be there, and she wanted to look her best for him; she was so happy to be back and see her friends again, especially Joe. The two weeks she had been in Naples she had missed Joe terribly and they had written to one another the whole two weeks. Mary had made a beautiful wooden race car for Abe and had painted it a shiny ruby red with bright yellow stripes on both sides and orange flames on the hood. Mary had learned to make just about anything from watching and being taught by her grandfather. Mary’s mom and dad told her she had a rare talent and would have great success from her creativity and artistic abilities. Mary smiled up at the heavens; “God bless this day and thank you!”
It was everything the four had hoped for, Abe’s birthday was a success and the four of them had a blast. Abe was thrilled with all the presents he received, and the day was better than he could have hoped for. Joe loved Mary’s dress and he asked her out while they were sitting in the club house alone, while Abe and Sarah had gone for a walk and Mary said yes and was in high spirits the whole day! As Abe and Sarah were walking in the woods behind his house and enjoying each other’s company and enjoying the beautiful array of foliage around them, Sarah saw something move quickly in her peripheral vision. “Abe did you see that?” Sarah looked at Abe. “Yes, what was that? Let’s go check it out!” Abe looked at Sarah, who in turn looked concerned. “Don’t be scared Sarah I won’t let anything hurt you.” Abe looked deep into Sarah’s eyes. Sarah looked back and she believed Abe, he would not let anything hurt her. The two quietly walked over to the large bush where they saw the strange movement, as they approached closer to the bush a bright light came from it that was so bright, they were knocked off their feet. When Abe and Sarah shook off the slight dizziness from the shock, they looked in wonder at where the bush had just been. In the place of the bush was a man but it was no ordinary man; a light shone all around him and he was close to eight feet tall and it almost appeared as if he had wings of light.
The man looked at the two of them and smiled and they could not tell the age of this beautiful being standing before them. His eyes looked wise beyond any earthly comprehension and yet his face was as smooth as porcelain and the two children felt at peace for this was a creature of Heaven, this they knew. When the man spoke, his voice was deep yet filled them with hope, joy and peace, “Abraham and Sarafina, you and your two companions Mariana and Joseph have all been chosen to serve a special purpose and will do amazing things. God has heard all your prayers and he knows your hearts and is very pleased. I have come to you now to give you His blessings and place His protection over the four of you and your families. Again, there was another bright flash that knocked Abe and Sarah out this time, when they came to, Mary and Joe were sitting beside them and the four looked around in bewilderment, for they remembered nothing of the previous events. “How did we get here? Last I remember we were in the club house?” Mary looked at Joe, who just shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t really know what is going on but strangely enough I feel everything is ok and I have a sense of great peace!” Sarah smiled at the other three and they smiled back at her in agreement. The rest of the summer was blessed for the four of them and they never left each other’s sides.
It was the first day back at school and Sarah had a restless sleep that evening. She had a dream of an angel surrounded in pure light and it was fighting a huge red dragon that had seven heads and every time the angel cut off a head from the dragon a new one would grow back in its place. When this happened, the dragon would laugh the most wicked and most frightening laugh Sarah ever heard. In the dream Sarah would be floating way above this event unnoticed but suddenly the deep blood red eyes of the dragon’s heads all looked at her and let out an unearthly horrifying shriek and charged right at her. Sarah put up her hands and as she did, the dragon began to come apart at the limbs and shrieked in agony as it exploded into hundreds of stars that shot down into an exploding volcano. Sarah looked at the angel in light and when the angel smiled at her she felt something oddly familiar, and then she woke up. She told only Abe about her dream and he told her he had similar strange dreams himself of this angel.
When Abe and Sarah arrived at school, Mary and Joe came running over to them. Mary looked over at Joe and then at Sarah and Abe, “Guys I just had the strangest dream of a beautiful angel surrounded in light and it was if I knew him somehow? Joe told me he had a dream about the angel too?” Joe just nodded his head. Sarah and Abe looked at one another and they told the other two about their dreams. “This has got to mean something, and I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that all four of us had similar dreams of this angel,” Abe looked at the others. They all agreed that somehow, they were being chosen to have these dreams and they would always tell each other when they had dreams of the angel. The four of them felt that as long as they stuck together, they were an unstoppable force. They were often the ones at school that would stop the fights, make peace with the bullies (who never could resist the smiles of Sarah and Mary) and were loved by everyone. They were an unstoppable team, and nothing would tear them apart; they were inseparable!
