PROLOGUE
( In this story, Jungkook is 20 Yrs)
"FINALLY!" I threw my graduation cap in the air and let it crash to the ground. High school has been hell, I'm glad I'm finally out of that prison.
"I'm so proud of you Emma sweetheart!" My mom pulled me into a bone-crushing hug and I heard her start to cry.
"Please don't mom you'll make me cry too," I mumbled while pulling out of her grip.
" your right, I'm sorry. We should be celebrating, it's your 19 birthday tomorrow!"
My mom looked at me with a worried expression when I didn't respond.
"Is everyone thing ok? why aren't you excited?"
I looked down at the graduation cap that was lying next to my right foot.
*sigh*
"It's not that I'm not excited, I am, it's just..... well...."
I look back up at my mom to see her waiting for an answer.
"I want to go somewhere for my birthday, since I'm old enough know and I've graduated."
She looked confused.
" Go somewhere? Like where? The mall?"
I laughed a little at her.
"No, I mean, somewhere.....more......well....somewhere that's father away than the mall."
She still didn't seem to get what I was trying to say so I decided to just lay it straight.
" I want to go to South Korea."
Her eyes were as big as saucers.
" s-south Korea? But...why?"
I hear a bit of what sounded like, hurt in her voice and instantly regret my words. But this is what I want and I'm going to go through with it.
" I know you are confused, but I'm old enough to care for myself now, and I won't be going alone. Chloe's going too and her family already has a apartment rented for us."
She looked at the ground for a few seconds before regaining her eye contact she had with me.
" your a adult know, it's not my place to tell you what to do with your life. I don't wan't you to go , but, if it will make you happy, then I will try to look on the bright side of this and be happy for you because I love you."
She squeezed her eyes shut for a moment to keep tears from poring out.
I walk close to her and returned the hug she gave me before while whispering a quiet 'thank you.'
" I see you told her."
I broke away from my mom to see who had interrupted our moment.
Standing in her graduation gown that matched mine was my best friend Chloe.
"We will only be there a year. And I promise to keep your daughter out of trouble," Chloe said trying to make the situation a little less tense.
My mom gave a small smile towards the both of us and wiped a single tear that escaped her left eye.
" when do you girls leave? I want us all to do something special before you go?"
I wasn't sure exactly when we left so I looked at Chloe.
She must have realized that I didn't know when we were to leave so she replied, "we leave tomorrow morning. "
' It's a good thing I packed a head of time' I thought as my mom just looked even more hurt than before.
" that only leaves tonight to do one last thing together. How about you girls take off those gowns and we all go have dinner at the new Italian restaurant? I think it will give me a good amount of time to say goodbye and to have one last memory."
" you're acting like I'm leaving forever. Mom it's just one year, but dinner does sound nice."
My mom smiled at me and started walking towards the car with Chloe and I right behind her.

After dinner we dropped off Chloe and started our way home.
The ride home was silent.
My mom didn't talk to me, or look at me once.
I need to break this silence before it puts a bigger void between us than telling her I'm leaving did.
" dinner was great, thanks...."
I wait for a your welcome or some sort of smile but neither came.
" is there something you want me to bring you back from Korea, a sovereign maybe?"
She sat in a straight position with her eyes focused on the road and nothing but.

We finally arrived home after another hour of my moms silent treatment.
After turning off the car and taking the keys out of the engine, my mom unlocked the car door and got out before I had time to even see her leave.
I watched her speed walk to the front door, unlock it, and slip inside leaving me in the car.
I got out after a moment and followed along to the front door.
Once inside I looked for my mom. When I didn't see her in the kitchen or living room, I assumed she had went to bed.
I decided to do the same.
As I made my way upstairs, I seen the bottom of my door illuminated by light that came from the inside of my room.
' I didn't leave that on' I thought as I got closer to the door and slowly listened for any sound coming from the inside.
When I didn't hear any noise I opened the door just enough to see inside.
" Mom?" I asked when I seen her sitting on my bed looking at something she held in her hand.
She looked up at me, and I could see she had been crying.
I walked in and sat beside her on the bed. She looked back down at the object in her hands and sighed deeply.
" this was was my mother's, but now I'm giving it to you. I like to think it'll keep you safe while your away."
Her attention was back on my face as she brought her hand to mine and placed a gold mockingbird necklace in the palm of my hand .
I looked down at it with a smile.
" I love it, thank you" I said through my smile while I looked up at my mom and when I seen her smile mine got wider.
" I'm gonna miss you, so much " I hugged her after I seen tears start to form in her eyes.
" I'm going miss you to mom" she held on to me for what seemed like minutes before she finally let go and wiped the tears that slid down her cheeks.
" well, I'll let you finish packing but after your done let's have a movie night one last time before you go"
" deal" she got up and started walking towards the door, but turned back around and gave me a small smile which I returned then proceeded out the door.

" I'm all packed and my flight leaves in an hour"
I was standing outside of my car with all my suitcases now in the trunk.
" I still can't believe my baby's leaving me" I rolled my eyes playfully while shutting the trunk.
" I'm 19 now mom, I'm not a baby"
She laughed a little at my statement.
" I know, your all grown up. Happy 19 birthday sweetie"
I gave her a tight hug and a quick thank you before getting in the car on my way to the airport.
