Summary

A story of misadventure, obsession, lies, broken dreams and eventual tragedy. Join me in this journey as i tell about a chilling account of betrayal. 'If you had told me this before I would have never done so much for you. I would have minded my own business. I didn't wish to sacrifice my sleep for you if only you had told. I wouldn't have made you my priority sacrificed everything just to make you happy. I would have done something else, not wasting my time on you, teaching you everything and seeing that you did well and never had trouble with anything.' I said , a warm tear rolling down my cheeks. Defeated and humiliated, the only emotions that I felt that time. ' That's why I never said anything.' Her reply came back, cold and mocking in itself. A silent laugh echoed that only seemed to mean . You fool. YOU FOOL . And the phone hung.

Crushed

'So, you wanna be friends ?' I looked at it in disbelief for a minute.

' Yes or no ?' Another text popped up on the screen. I wanted to say something but I knew, no words that I could have typed would have explained my state of emotional turbulence.

'Yes, certainly' I typed with utter slowness, as if each letter marked a nail in my coffin and as soon as i hit enter I could feel my heart sink. Devastated, I didn't even wait for her reply. I threw my phone aside and laid my head on a pillow, thinking of everything that has happened so far and my mind drifted of to a distant memory.

It was the start of High school. A new day, a new life. I had nothing to be excited about that day. It was the same school from which i did my middle school and I already knew all the teachers in the school.

I walked down the corridor. In the bustling sound of talk and noise, I saw several new faces but most of them were already familiar to me. I had taken up commerce stream despite my dad being a doctor. We had a long argument about it but in the end he agreed to my choice. I knew he would, he has always been a nice guy. The type who would always say 'as long as you are happy, I have no problem' and I loved him.

And therefore, here i was, in a class full of raucous students, everyone talking to someone. I was always the silent type, the introverted student whose existence didn't make much of an impact. While sitting on a bench in the far end of the classroom, I had no companions. The only other student was Matt and he too like me was the introverted type and he would help me a lot, throughout my two year journey of awful tragedy and stupidity.

I was kind of a bright student and had scored well in my 10th board exams. 96% , not bad and everyone had been proud of me. They thought that i will choose science stream but little did they know that i had other things in mind. In the school that i attended they had three streams, namely science, commerce and humanities. The premise of commerce stream had always interested me and who didn't like the idea of working with money ? Also, the humanities class was just beside the commerce classroom. The school didn't have enough teachers to have separate classes for half of our subjects that we had in common with them. Therefore, we had a system of combined class for Economics, English Language and Literature.

First period was introduction but then after that we had our first combined class in economics. I silently walked towards the hall having as little conversation with Matt as possible. I was lost in thought , not in anything particular, just lost.

But as i entered the class my eyes fell on someone. A girl. She was giggling and talking to her friends. I stared at her momentarily in an attempt to not make things awkward or be labeled as a creep. I went to the far end of the hall making sure to sit on the corner of the bench so that i could have a nice and clear view of her. Throughout the class i just tried to take a glance of her figure, her face, her hairs that were long and flowed down her shoulders in a pony-tail. Everything about her seemed perfect . She had kind of an innocent look on her face and that drove me crazy about her.

It was an instant crush.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
