Prologue
“You don’t know how beautiful you are sometimes.” He laughed out. Even in the state he was in, he still managed to laugh and smile. All for my sake. I choked back the tears and gently wiped the blood away from his mouth. “Shut up. You need to save the energy you have so I can help you.” I said quietly, my voice quavering and cracking. I placed his head in my lap and my hand over the deep wound in his chest and tried to heal his wounds with my mage craft. He gripped my wrist gently and shook his head with a weak smile. “I was never meant to stay anyway yet I burdened you with the worst imaginable thing in the world. Love.” He said and encased my hand around his. This time, I let the tears fall. The tears falling into his hair. “I can’t let you die!” I cried out and shook my head. I looked past the tears and on my hand. Two left. “I hope you’ll forgive me one day for this, that is my only wish.” He whispered and closed his eyes. I gasped and shot up quickly. “That’s what we need to do. We need to win.” I said quietly and instantly grabbed him by the wrist. “I’m saving you. After all I owe you.” I said with determination. He chuckled and cracked an eye open at me. “You just don’t know when to give up do you?” I pulled him to his feet and took on half his weight. Walking in the silence of the aftermath, I took him to the one place I knew he could live.
