The City of Aldspring is one of many in the country and even more in the world. In Twenty-three thirteen, there are three classes
The lower class
The lower class are completely unemployed, losing their jobs before the 'fall' which is what they call the beginning of this new society. They live in sheds in gardens behind huge fences. A handful of the lower class live in that part of an old neighbourhood, outside the cities, why do they live in sheds and not houses? Simple. They'd been completely destroyed and brick walls were built instead. They are completely reliant on rations of food, clothes etc. These are provided by a company that works to keeping them the lower class alive, as they clearly don't have any finance. The lower class wear clothing from the two-thousands, which are normally scruffy. They are often looked down upon by the higher classes. If someone from the lower class does get some sort of job for whatever reason then they are not permitted for pay. Those who do get caught giving money to the lower class will be executed immediately.
Middle class
The middle class are the only class that are actually 'employed'. They can work wherever, just as you could in the two-thousands, but they cannot own companies, buildings etc. They make their own money, fifty percent of which, they have to give to the upper class and the lower class support system they wear a strange combination of two-thousands and nineteen-hundreds clothing.
The middle class are permitted to talk to the upper class only if spoken to. They are also permitted to luxeries such as: holidays, nice houses and the television.
The upper class
The highest of the high. The upper class are blessed with many different luxeries, such as owning many companies but not nessesarily having to work. However, if needed they may need to, check up on the company.
They will need to treat the middle with a little respect, but they may speak to the lower class however they please. They dress in nineteen-hundreds clothing.
The laws are as follows:
No one is permitted to leave the country of Ostresh. Those who try and those who try to help another escape, will be executed immediately.
People are to only marry within their classes. A middle class must marry another middle class. An upper class must marry an upper class, unless your are lower class. In which case, you cannot marry.
Different classes cannot develop any sort of close relationship. That being said, people from different classes can develop a professional relationship.
Stealing is not possible. But for the one percent chance that it does happen, then the punishment is thirty lashings to the hand, if it happens again then thoth hands get cut off.
Murder has a strict punishment, which is public burning.
Rebellion will result in immediate execution.
And anyone who dares to show some sort of individualality, is wiped off t he centre of the earth, as if they never existed....
If you're ready, then turn the page.
