Chapter 1
A tall skinny man hovered over Max. He had a hood on but Max knew who the home intruder was. He laid there in pain as he was bleeding from his head as he coughed up blood. The house around him was on fire. Some walls were partially broken and the door to enter the house was in pieces. He raised his hand to make the man stop from killing him.
“Now brother, you will die.” the intruder whispered.
“Please… don’t... brother…” Max struggled to say.
Max looked over at his newborn baby who was being held by his wife Lauren.
“Lauren, my love…” Max spit up more blood, “Run...Never look back!”
She nodded as she slowly got up.
“I love…” Max said before getting stabbed in the heart by his own brother.
“I know my love” Lauren whispered as she ran out of the house through the broken down door. She did not look back and as she kept running Max’s brother watched her.
Thirteen years later:
“Hey Xavier its almost prom! You gonna ask your crush out?!” exclaimed a sixteen year old kid.
“You mean Amy? I wish, dude.” Xavier laughed
“Fine I guess I am your wingman. Just call me Matt the certified Love Doctor!” Matt said a little too loud.
Matt was a skinny kid and was average height, meaning about 5’6. He had curly brown hair and tan skin. He was a sarcastic kid with little to no filter. He did not care what people thought of him. Xavier on the other hand was very self conscience. Xavier was a good looking kid though, with his dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. He was also taller than Matt, give or take a few inches.
Xavier playfully punched Matt in the shoulder. “Fine but don’t make me look stupid, okay?”
“No promises my dude.” Matt smirked and walked down the school hallway to where Amy and her friends were standing.
Xavier followed Matt down the hall. Amy looked at them and smiled.
Amy was beautiful. Long brunette hair that went down a few inches past her shoulders and fair white skin. She was also tall for her age.
“Hi Xavier and...Matt is it?”
Matt leaned himself on the locker. “So my main man here…”
“I’m gonna stop you there, okay?” Amy’s friend Lucy said to Matt.
“I’m sorry about him, you three. I just wanna know if Amy, you, would want to go to prom with me?”
As if on cue an explosion rocked the school. Students ran from the entrance which was right of their circle of students. Teachers and other faculty members tried to stop the chaos. Some yelled for students to calm down and head away from the fires in the hallway. The principal and the school cop ran towards the explosion.
A man walked out of the fire. He brushed his jacket off with his hand. He waved his hand and two figures made out of rock formed from the ground. The said something in a tongue Xavier or anyone wouldn’t understand. The rock beings grunted as the principal and the school officer stopped in their tracks. The officer unhooked his gun from his belt and aimed it at the man. “Whoever you are, stand down!”
The rock beings charged at the officer and the principal, then grabbed them and carried them over to the man. The man smiled sharply.
“Now where is Xavier Newman?”
“I will not disclose my students to the likes of you!” The principal said as he struggled in the arms of the rock being.
Xavier, Matt, and Amy watched in horror. Amy’s friends started running away as fast as they could.
“Fine...I tried going easy on you but now I guess I have to do this the hard way.”
A sword materialized in the man’s hand. He aimed the tip of the sword at the police officer. He swung his sword and decapitated him. His head rolled to the floor as his body slumped to the ground while blood poured out the neck.
“I don’t know where this Xavier Newman is!” The principal cried out.
Xavier started moving towards the scene. Matt grabbed his shoulders.
“Dude what the hell are you doing?”
Xavier stopped as he heard sirens blare from outside the school.
“Come out now!” Another police officer ordered through a megaphone.
The man looked at the principal and then outside at all the police and the FBI who were training their guns at him. Xavier knew he had to do something. He knew exactly who this was. His mother told him all the time that it was his destiny to kill this man because of what he did to his dad. Xavier looked at Matt and nodded at him.
“I got to do something.”
“I don’t think now is the best time. We are still training dude.” Matt insisted
“What are you two talking about?” Amy whispered in a tone telling them to shut up.
The man looked over at the police and back at the principal once again. He smirked and then a ball of flames appeared in his left hand. He threw it like a baseball pitcher at a police car. The police car blew up, as well as a couple policemen standing right beside the car.
“If Xavier doesn’t show himself, I’ll kill you all and that’s a promise!”
The man waited a few seconds and then laughed
“Fine by me!”
A ball of flames appeared in both of his hands and he got in a throwing stance.
Xavier pushed Matt’s hands off of his shoulders and stood in the middle of the hallway where everyone could see him..
“Wait...Uncle, I’m right here.”
