The Marauders

A young boy named James Potter hair as black as night, crooked glasses and a brilliant smile. He is starting his first year at Hogwarts. He is with his mom and dad, his father tells him.

“ Now son if you’re nervous, you’re going to run straight between platforms nine and ten.”

James ran towards the wall then all of a sudden, he saw a glorious big bright red train, The Hogwarts Express. Witches and wizards where everywhere helping students get prepared to leave for Hogwarts. James said his farewells to his parents, and then went aboard The Hogwarts Express. Inside students were finding a compartment to sit in, James found a compartment he sat down

“who are you?” a boy with messy hair that went almost over his eyes and blushed cheeks asked.

“I am James Potter.” He replied.

“Sirius Black nice to meet you.”

“so what house do you think you will be sorted into,” James asked.

“My whole family has been in Slytherin,” he said.

“Blimey.” said James, “and I thought you seemed alright!” Sirius grinned.

“Maybe i’ll break tradition. Where are you heading, if you’ve got the choice?”

James lifted an invisible sword

“Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart!” like my dad.”

“wow very ambitious, but doubt you will make it far.” Sirius said.

He laughed “What’s that supposed to mean, like you will do any better!” He said.

“Do you two mind im trying to read.” A girl, with bright green eyes and dark red hair that fell to her shoulders asked.

“Who do you think you are?” Sirius asked.

“ im Lily Evans.” She replied.

Then turned away irritated.

“Come on Evans, he was joking.” James replied.

“You bunderheads are irritating, name’s Severus Snape” A thin boy, with sallow skin, a large hooked nose, and yellow uneven teeth replied.

“Well at least we’re not dark and gloomy eh James.” Sirius replied. The train stopped, they finally had arrived at Hogwarts. James, Sirius, Lily and Severus stepped outside

“Alright first years follow me, two per boat.” A large man with a flowing beard said. They boarded the boats James and Sirius were in one and Lily and Severus where in another, students gasped in the distance was the magnificent castle of Hogwarts. They got off the boats and walked up the steps to get to the great hall. A old woman with a unsatisfied expression approached them.

“Welcome to Hogwarts I am Professor Mcgonagall now in a moment you will be sorted into your houses, they are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Now while you are here your house will be like your family, your triumphs will earn you points, but any rule breaking and you will lose points.” She said.

Then she walked inside, Severus shot James and Sirius a nasty look of hatred. “Were ready for you.” Professor Mcgonagall said.

The giant doors opened, the great hall has millions of floating candles also, there were many students sitting at their respected house tables. The students stood in the front, the staff was sitting down and in the middle was the headmaster. There was a stool on it, was a mangled patched up hat.

“Now when i call your name you will sit down and the sorting hat will be placed on your head.” “Lily Evans” Mcgonagall said. She sat down, then the hat cried

“Gryffindor!” The Gryffindor table erupted in cheers.

“Sirius Black”

“Gryffindor!” James patted Sirius on the shoulder, Sirius went over to where Lily was sitting.

“Severus Snape.”

The hat barely touched his head and cried “Slytherin!”

The Slytherin table erupted in cheers.

“Remus lupin”

“Gryffindor” The hat cried. The Gryffindor table erupted in cheers.

“Peter Pettigrew”

The hat was placed on his head, It had to decide for a brief moment then

“Gryffindor!” The hat cried.

The Gryffindor table erupted in cheers.

“James Potter”

“Gryffindor!” The hat cried.

Sirius, Lily, Remus, Peter and the gryffindor table erupted in cheers. James went to sit down next to Sirius

“well done Sirius you are quite the rebel aren’t you” James said.

Then Dumbledore, a tall and thin man, with silver hair and a beard so long it could be tucked into his belt tapped his glass.

“Let the feast begin.” He said,

Food of all sorts appeared in front of James, Sirius and Lily, Sirius started shoving food in his mouth and James stared at Lily. Sitting next to Sirius, was a boy with curly blond hair and scars on his face was enveloped in his book, next to him was a short and chubby boy, with blond hair and dropping food everywhere.

“Who are you guys?” James asked.

“Remus Lupin, and next to me is Peter Pettigrew.” He replied.

“What happened to your face, did an owl bloody you up?” Sirius asked.

Remus hid his face and ignored the question.

“Ignore him, hi i’m James potter and this idiot is Sirius black.” He replied.

Peter chuckled so Sirius ruffled his hair and shoved him aside.The four boys walked to the gryffindor common room

“password?” The fat lady said.

“Toads bane.” The boys replied,

she opened up. Inside, where a few students socializing with one another. James, Sirius, Remus and Peter all went to bed. The next morning was potions class the four boys were not paying attention, instead they were chatting it up Severus shot them a glare of annoyance. The four boys had become inseparable Later on James was named Seeker of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and sure enough Sirius, Remus and Peter were there to witness it. He was the Quidditch hero he frequently liked to mess up his hair and toss around a Golden Snitch. Sirius was a good looking rebel and proudly defiant of his family’s Slytherin affiliations, adorning his bedroom walls with Gryffindor colors along with pictures of motorbikes and muggle girls. Remus on the other hand was the brains of the group who tried and often failed to keep the group in check. As for Peter well... Peter was there too. The first year went by and before the boys knew it, it was time for there second year at hogwarts.

In Herbology class the boys lesson today was handling Mandrakes

“all right everyone, I am Professor Sprout and today we will be planting Mandrakes.” She said.

“Now everyone put on your earmuffs while a baby’s cries cant kill you it can still knock you out, all right you grab the Mandrake and pull it up." She said.

A horrible shrieking noise filled the room, Professor Sprout planted it and the shrieking stopped.

“All Right now grab it and pull it up!”

The boys and the students pulled up, The horrible shrieking noise returned but louder. James lifted up his Mandrake and moved it towards Peter.

“Come on Peter want to kiss your new girlfriend.” He chuckled,

and moved it closer to Peter. Sirius laughed but Remus looked dissatisfied, Severus glared angrily at the boys.

“Idiots.” Lily muttered under her breath. After Herbology The boys decided to follow Lily and Severus.

“Hey Evans.” James said.

“What do you want Potter?” She asked irritated.

“Oh i was wondering if you would like to hang out sometime?” He replied.

“Can you not tell when your not wanted James.” Severus replied.

“Be quiet Snivellus!” Sirius replied.

Severus was about to take out his wand, when James took out his wand and said

“Expelliarmus!”

Severus’s wand flew out of his hand.

“Levicorpus.” James said.

Severus immediately was suspended in the air by the ankle.

“Who wants to see me take off Snivellus robes?” James asked.

Lily immediately cast the counter jinx, Snape fell to the ground, picked up his wand and rushed off quickly.

“Haha that oughta teach Snivellus, not to talk back to his superiors.” James said.

“You think you’re funny...but You’re just an arrogant, bullying toerag, Potter. Leave him alone” Lily replied,

and then stormed off after Severus.

“Isn’t she something, you think she likes me?” James asked.

“Oh yeah she likes you all right, as an arrogant toerag.” Sirius said. He laughed.

“Oh shut up!” James replied. Then punched him in the shoulder. It was getting late so,They walked back towards the Gryffindor common room

“pigs hair” The boys said.

They entered, inside was almost no one they sat down.

“Right then, goodnight guys.” Remus said.

“Goodnight what for, lets go explore the forbidden forest.” Sirius said.

“It’s forbidden for a reason and besides I don’t want to get caught.” Remus replied.

“I got you covered, with this.” James replied. He pulled out a cloak.

“A mangy cloak oh wow James, now i really won’t get caught.” Sirius said sarcastically.

Then James put it on, instantly he disappeared from the boys.

“That’s an invisibility cloak.” Remus said.

“Right you lot lets go.” Sirius replied.

“Come on Remus!” James yelled.

“All right.” Remus replied.

Then the boys where under the cloak, they pushed opened the portrait

“hun whos there.” The Fat Lady replied.

The boys moved forwards they saw Filch from under the cloak and moved down the other corridor to avoid him.

“That was close.” Peter said.

“Shhh.” James whispered.

They approached the castle grounds, where the Forbidden forest lies.

“Well then we seen it, let’s go back.” Remus said.

“Where be the fun in that, scared of werewolves Remus” Sirius replied.

Remus shuddered at the mention of werewolves. “Well I hope there isn’t a full moon tonight.” Remus replied.

“Come on Remus, scared.” Peter said.

“Alright boys lets go.” James said.

The four boys went into the forest.

“Guys I thought i just saw something move.” Peter asked.

“Nah probably just the Werewolves.” Sirius replied.

Peter was shaking, cautiously walking forward. Then all of a sudden

“Boo!! Sirius shouted.

Peter fell down on the ground terrified. Sirius laughed.

“Alright who’s in here!” Filch shouted.

“Now look what you’ve done Sirius!” Remus whispered.

The boys quickly put on The Invisibility Cloak and ran back towards the castle as fast as they could, Peter still shaken was falling behind. Remus put his hand on Peters shoulder and kept running. Finally the boys were back in the common room. Peter went directly upstairs to bed.

“Well that was a close one.” James said.

“A close one, Sirius almost got us a one way ticket to being back on the train home!” Remus replied.

“Come on Remus, we were fine.” Sirius replied.

“Well you have to admit Peters reaction was hilarious.” Sirius chuckled.

“i’m off to bed.” Remus responded.

The next day the boys were walking to potions class and they saw Severus talking to Lily. The boys approached them, Severus immediately glared at them.

“Hey Snivellus!” James said.

“What do you want Potter?” He asked.

“Oh i was wondering, when You Know Who is going to recruit you?” James replied.

Immediately Severus filled with hatred took out his wand and pointed it at James. James took out his wand

“Expelliarmus!” James said.

Severus’s wand flew out of his hand instantly. Severus picked up his wand and stormed off.

“Now that we’re alone Evans.” James said. Not even saying a word Lily Immediately stormed off after Severus.

“Why does she hang out with Snivellus and not me?” James asked.

“I really don’t have the slightest idea.” Remus said sarcastically.

The boys entered the dungeons, to go to potions class

“Welcome, so glad you could join us.” The professor said sarcastically.

Class had clearly started.

“10 points from Gryffindor.” He said.

“Also you all will have detention with me.” He added.

Severus looked at the boys with a smirk on his face. The boys sat down, irritated

“All right, today we will be brewing Living Death.” “oh and for you newcomers my name is Professor Marlo.” He said.

Remus gathered the ingredients, Sirius was messing around with different ingredients and throwing them in the cauldron. James glared at Severus, Severus ignored him and kept brewing. Peter was stirring his potion and then “boom!” the cauldron exploded. The whole class stared and laughed at the soot covered Peter. Marlo gave a look of disapproval at peter. Remus’s potion was perfect, the professor smiled.

“Alright tomorrow, I want 2 pages of parchment about how to successfully brew Living Death.” He said.

The boys walked to there next class, Lily ran past James

“Hey Evans!” He shouted.

She immediately pulled out her wand

“Stupefy!” she said.

The spell hit James and sent him flying backwards, he fell to the ground.

“Nice spell Evans!” Sirius shouted. He laughed.

“Shut up Sirius.” James muttered.

“Come on James can’t you tell she wants to be left alone.” Remus replied.

“That cant be true i’m the Quidditch seeker all the girls adore me.” He replied. Then stood up and smiled.

The boys went back to the common room, Remus was a little restless.

“Right goodnight.” Remus said.

“What’s up with him, cat got his tongue?” Sirius chuckled.

“Sirius would you stop, what if he’s sick!” James replied.

“Nah he’s fine.” Sirius said.

“He did have a bigger scars on his face than yesterday.” Peter said.

The boys went to bed, James couldn’t sleep well because he was worrying about his friend. There was a loud noise, James awoke to see Remus wasn’t in his bed.

“Sirius, Peter, wake up!” James shouted.

“What the blazes do you want!” Sirius replied.

“Remus is gone!” James replied.

“What!” Peter replied.

“Well it’s about time he snuck out.” Sirius replied.

“Im worried let’s go find him.” James replied.

“Oh all right let’s go find him.” Sirius replied sleepily.

The boys put on The Invisibility Cloak and saw that the fat lady was opened. The boys went to the castle grounds at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, they saw Remus walking into the forest.

“Let’s follow him.” James said.

The boys followed him, Remus stopped and stood very still. Then the full moon rose and shined on Remus. What the boys saw was Remus was changing, his eyes were solid black. Remus’s body thrashed and then he turned into a Werewolf. The boys took of the cloak and stared at there friend. Remus looked at the boys. The Werewolf howled at the moon, the boys were afraid. James went up to The Werewolf

“Remus are you still in there?” James asked concerned.

The Werewolf growled and then prepared to slash at James, Sirius jumped on The Werewolf’s back

“Remus it’s us your friends!!” He shouted. The Werewolf threw Sirius to the ground,

“Remus stop!” James shouted.

All of a sudden Remus changed back, to a human and fell to the ground.

“Remus!” The boys yelled. He looked up at them with a look of guilt on his face.

“Why the long face Remus.” James asked.

“You see what i am now, don’t you.” He replied.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sirius asked.

“Well you’re probably going to desert me, aren’t you.” Remus replied.

“Desert you, what for.” James replied.

“Cause of my transformation.” Remus replied.

“No, were going to help you in any way we can.” James said.

“What do you mean.” Remus replied.

“Were going to work hard and become Animagi.” James declared.

“You are?” Remus asked.

“Yeah cause your our friend Remus.” They said

“Come on Remus lets head back.” James said.

James pulled Remus up and the boys walked back to the common room. These four Gryffindor’s had become the best of friends.
