Prologue

I stared at the many different birthday cakes. There were all different kinds. One layered, two layered, three layered, white, green, white and green, small, big. Circular, square and many many more. I look up at the owner of the bakery, who is also the baker. I was picking one for my fiance, Garrett, who turned 22 that day. We’ve been dating since we were 18 and he proposed six months ago and our wedding was only two weeks away.

“These are all lovely,” I said with a smile.

“Thank you,” she said. I went back to looking at the cakes and I grin when I see the perfect one. It’s a large square cake with white and blue frosting and a hockey puck made of black icing.

“I would like that one,” I said, pointing to it. The lady smiled.

Twenty minutes later, I was walking up the front door with the birthday cake and some presents that I picked up from the store. Opening the front door, I walked into the kitchen and put everything on the counter.

“Babe, I’m home,” I called, as I opened the cake and set the candles on top. I waited for a reply, but never got one.

“Babe?!” I called, again. Nothing.

I walked to the garage and saw that his car was there, letting me know that he was home. He’s probably in our room listening to his loud music again, I thought.

Grabbing the cake, I went upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door with my shoulder.

“Babe?” I gasped. My fiance was on the king sized bed that I bought, thrusting his dick inside another woman.

At the sound of my gasp, Garrett turned his head and his eyes widened in horror when he saw me standing there. Dropping the cake, I turned around and ran.

“Remy! Wait! Baby!” Garrett yelled, coming out the room as he tried to hurriedly pull on some shorts. Sobbing, I ran to the car, ignoring his pleas. I had just turned on the ignition, when he came running out the house. We made contact through the windshield for about ten seconds before I drove away.

“He WHAT?” my best friend, Dez, screeched so loud I had to pull my phone away from my ear.

“He cheated on me. I caught him when I was trying to bring him his birthday cake. He was in the room on o-our bed and he was with some w-w-woman.” I sobbed.

“THAT COCK-SUCKING MOTHERFUCKER!!” she screamed. I nodded. I was angry too, but I was more sad. How could he do this to me and two weeks away from our wedding? And how long? Is this something new or has he been cheating since day one?

“What am I going to do?” I wailed. I had to cancel the wedding, cancel invitations, reservations, and get my money back. Then I would have to explain to my family and friends why me and Garrett weren’t getting married anymore.

“I’ll tell you what you’re gonna do. You’re gonna pack your shit, get a plane ticket and come move in with me so you don’t have to see that son of a fucking bitch,” Dez replied matter-of-factly.

“B-but I can’t go back. Not right now. He’ll be there a-and-” I started to cry again.

“You don’t have to go back. Take what you have right now, book a flight and leave as soon as possible,” Dez stated.

“B-but I can’t just leave. My job, my house, my whole life-”

“Is here is Atlanta with me.The only reason you left is because of Garrett’s job. Besides, we had already planned to have a girls trip before the wedding. What’s moving it up a little earlier gonna do?” she asked. I thought about it for a minute. Dez was right. We did have a plan for a girls trip and I did leave my whole life for Garrett’s hockey career.

“I’ll be on the next flight out,” I said.
