Prologue

The large golden lion stepped forward onto the cold, sandy stone floor of the cave. He shook his great brown mane majestically, opening his mouth to reveal his incisors in a yawn. At the back of his mouth you could just barely see his carnassials, ready to slice up the meat of his prey with ease.

From the other end of the cave, came a bright furred lion. His fur the color of the sun. Strangely his mane being of the same color. Their golden eyes met, but there was no hint of friendliness in them. Hostility floated on the air, and the bright furred lion growled deeply.

"Atsila."

The golden lion, Atsila, prowled forward. "Inola. My old friend- well, rival. How, have you been?" He mewed sarcastically.

"Oh very good thanks to you." Inola snarled, claws scraping along the floor.

"Inola, Inola, why the mad face? It's a great day for you, isn't it?" Atsila huffed.

"Oh yes, I find out my first offspring is a lioness, and on top of that, some pride gets in my way and takes a chunk of my territory. Perfect day!" Inola sat down, eyes glaring.

Atsila sat down, paws forward. "Now now Inola, you know what I've said, connect the prides! Your daughter, mate to my first born son, Cub Tala, he's around two sandings old now and already learning. Please," Atsila places his paw on Inola's, looking into the rival lion's eyes, "No more fighting."

Inola hesitated, his, face solemn, then narrowed his eyes and pulled his lips back. He pulled his paw away. "Never!" He roared, "I will be the ONLY king one day Atsila! And you and your son will be no more!"

"I'd like to see you try! A lioness cannot lead her pride! Fool! You'll only bring death!" Atsila cried.

Inola stopped, casting a glare over his shoulder.

"Oh I will."

Before prowling back into the darkness.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
