Summary

Nothing got in between Ammie and Jessica. Not even middle school(which was a disaster). Nothing except Jevaun. Ammie and Jessica have been friends since the beginning of time. Their families even have a weekly dinner together. One day though, Jessica walks to school(and they normally carpool) holding hands with a boy. A boy who has tan, golden skin, and eyes the color of the night sky. His hair was as dark as any color could get. About the most attractive person, Ammie had ever seen. Can she resist the temptation? Or will Ammie give in to the kind words and twinkling eyes of Jevaun?

Chapter 1

I look nervously down at my outfit, wondering if it looks good. I know that adults say that we shouldn't be worried about our appearance, but that is the way kids at school categorize you. Nobody

really

tells you what category you're in, but you can guess with the actions of others when you arrive. Like a popular kid would get gawking or people fainting(I'm serious, that happened one time). Like if you show up to school in 'trendy' clothes, people may not make fun of you. If you wear some geeky shirt, chances are people will a. turn their noses and walk away or b. just roll their eyes and ignore you. People don't necessarily tease me like some kids, but even I know I'm not Ms. Popular. I'm what my friend Jessica and I call the 'middle-class'. She is also categorized as middle-class. I mean, kids know who we are, it's just they don't admire our appearance or aspire to be us. Anyways back to my outfit. I mean, it doesn't look

bad

. But it doesn't look incredible. The colors don't

exactly

match, but it will do. I looked at my hair, which was a light brown color. It didn't look too bad. Not a tangled rat's nest hanging on my scalp today. And it actually does look like that sometimes. I glance towards the clock that was ticking on my bedroom wall(which is a seafoam color) it read 7:06. Crap. Late on a Monday. I run at full speed through my house, grabbing my book bag on the way out. Hm. That's odd. Jessica normally picks me up. She must be sick or something. I hear the bus to my left and ran like I was in a race(technically, I was). I barely got on. I plopped down on a seat somewhat in the middle of the bus, trying to catch my breath. My chest rose and fell like I couldn't get enough oxygen. The freshman I sat with awkwardly scooted closer to the window. I tried to smile, but it probably looked like I was a shark or something cause the kid just scooted farther away. She looked like she was gonna have a heart attack right here and now. I guess to her I'm some big scary sophomore. Whatever. The bus was really frickin noisy, except for my seat. I tried to look out the window, and not make eye contact with the freshman. While looking out the window, I spotted a very familiar person. An auburn-haired girl who happened to be Jessica. That kinda ticked me off, but that's not why I nearly exploded. What set me off was that she was holding hands with a boy. A cute one that she had never before mentioned. I couldn't tell who he was from the distance, but I took a pic so I would have evidence in case she denied anything. Jessica is

so

busted.
