Prologue (rewritten)
The woman ran with a panicked urgency through the forest, not even wincing as the unruly branches scratched her face and legs. If she didn't run, the pain would be worse. So much worse. She felt the damp floor of the forest pressed against her. She had fallen. No no no she panackied, fear gripped her gut like a vise as the shadowy figure gained on her. Her fate was beginning dim as was her vision when the figure touched her. Its cold lifless force pushed through her, almost reducing her to unconciousness. She felt nothing. Empty. This creature was beyond dead. The rotting flesh burned her nostrils as the boney grip of the beast tighted. She was done for. Her life was over before it could begin. She would never have her baby, never see her family. Depression had consumed her in the arms of the creature. Horrendous thoughts consumed her mind like a fire in a dry forest. It seemed like all hope was lost for her. The creature released her sensing her suffering. It adjusted itself to see her better, its master wanted to see her suffer, to see her at the mercy of her own destruction.
She backed away as soon as the creature freed her lost in her own mind. She felt the release of boundary pass through her hand, the creature approached her with a steady gait. She had found it, backing up further she felt the power of the boundary fill and release through her whole being. She was safe, her baby was safe. For now.
