Born to Run (River)
“Where am I? What is this place?” These questions I asked myself, and more. I looked around. I was on a beach and behind me was a forest. All I found on me was underwear and a navigation kit. Then I heard a screech behind me. I started running, like I had never run before. I heard footsteps behind me. I ran across the beach, looking for somewhere to hide. I scrambled over a rock and once I got over it I turned around. It was a raptor that was chasing me. But that couldn’t be possible.... All I knew was that I would have to find food. Then there was a buzz on the implant on my arm. It read “level up”. I could decide how to spend it, I put it into movement speed. I won’t tell you about any more of these because it happens a lot. Then I heard a voice behind me. “River!” I swiveled around. There stood a man in his underwear, just like me, with short brown hair and muscles of steel. I instantly knew who it was. “Ryan!” Ryan is my cousin. Even though he was a Patriots fan, I still loved him. “Ryan, have you found anything?” I asked. “No” He replied. “Well we should probably find some before nightfall.” I said. “I found some dodo birds, you go hunt some of those. I will find some berries.” As I walked into the forest I saw what looks like a fat iguana. They are called Moschops. It was so, so cute. I fed it a berry. It looked like it wanted another, so I gave it another one. As I found more berries the iguana followed me around. I realized that it was tame now so I gave it a name. Godzilla. I picked up some stones and went back to the meeting place. It seemed as though Ryan found a pet as well. His was a Dilophosaurus. The Dilophosaurus was dark green and had a frill around his neck. “River, meet Raptor.” He said with a grin. “Ryan, meet Godzilla.” I said. That was the first time I smiled since I got to the island. We decided to move along the coast in search of a place to set up camp. The coast was full of Dodo birds. After a while we found a ruined building. It had a chest inside of it. The chest had a Dossier about dodo birds. It said that to tame dodos you must knock them out and give them food that way. I thought that was a bit strange. But Ryan said that was how he tamed his Dilophosaurus. Then we saw Raptor’s namesake. An actual raptor jumped at us and bit me. I used a club to knock it out, then fed it some of the dodo meat. We waited for five minutes and then the Raptor got up. Since it was red Ryan claimed it and called it Charmander. Then Ryan got an idea. He fashioned a saddle for the raptor and rode it. He was a lot faster than me so I knew I would have to get a mount. I found something that looked like a pig crossed with an elephant. I tamed it and called it Wilber. I also made a saddle for it and rode it. It wasn’t as fast as the raptor, but it was better than nothing. Then another raptor jumped at us. Raptor was the first to react. He killed the raptor and ate it whole. We decided on building in a valley without one side. First off we built a wall of spikes on the open side. Then we built some storage boxes. Then the implant on my arm buzzed again. It said I could build a tannery. I didn’t know what that meant but I did it. It appeared right in front of me. It let me craft hide armor and saddles. I made myself some hide armor. I also could build a chef station. I did that, with which I could make kibble and other dishes. I made a mental note to myself to look into some of this stuff. If I didn’t have the materials that is. I hopped on Wilber to explore the perimeter. All I found was a couple dodos and a monkey. I did the same thing that I did with the Moschops. I went behind it and gave it Mejoberries. Once I tamed it I named it Rafiki and it climbed on my shoulder. I Went back to the base to see what Ryan was doing. He had built a raft. He grinned at me when I came back. “Look what I made!” He said, proud of himself. I grinned internally. Such a Ryan thing to say. Ryan also had tamed a dodo. I asked him why, and he said “Look at the the implant.” So I did. Level 178! “Ok Ryan, I see you.” He grinned. Then I saw that I could build an outpost and loading bench so I built those. In the outpost I found a compound bow. In the loading bench I got some metal arrows and toxicant arrows. I also created a Ghillie suit out of leaves. Ryan had armor made of hide. I had a backup suit of cloth. Then a women riding a stegosaurus came into view. I took off the ghillie and put on the cloth. “Hello, my name is River” I said. The women had on a form of chitin armour. She didn’t have a helmet on. She had a her dirty blond hair in a bun. Her ears looked almost elven. Her cheeks were pink, but I could tell they didn’t have makeup. Her eyes were dark brown. “Hello.” She said. “My name is Isabella Waggoner. I am the queen of a tribe on this island. We are searching the island for a place to set up a secondary base. Would you like to host us. All you need to do is let us set up a base here. We only need one of you to stay here and keep the place nice and the creatures healthy.” I thought about it for a good minute and decided. “Yes, I will.” “Well then, River of the Southern Peninsula… Welcome to Tervocus.”
