"I would like to read more of Doug's work. The plot kept me anticipating the next action. Some of the banter was a bit sophmorish but overall the book moves at a nice clip. It was a little hard in the beginning to keep the characters straight but once the novel got going it was fun. I especially liked the look at the community as an ideal place after all that the heroine went through. That was a nice touch. Good work!"

"Nightmare remnant of the American Dream kills you with a death of a thousand cuts: then it gets creepy weird. Writer could spend more time focusing on the menace. Put it a bit more " in your face" from both the individual characters and the gestalt. How about a bit where one of the protagonists is devastated by their helplessness in the face of how relentless our individual powerlessness is while being utterley abandoned by the "safety net" of the unraveling social contract?"
