Prologue

A thousand lifetimes.

He waited for a thousand lifetimes.

Even though he did wait...

He clenched his hand into a fist.

So, why?

Trudging through the thick white snow, he leaves lonely footsteps patterning the bleak landscape followed by dark red blood.

Why did it always have to end like this?

While the fragile body in his arms gradually became colder, he tried to quicken his pace.

He can't escape.

He can't escape the consequences of his previous lifetime, regardless of the cycle of reincarnation.

He can't alter his fate.

Suddenly, he stopped. Looking up, he saw a mad flurry of delicate snowflakes - and a weak sun scattering its light through the clouds.

He knew.

The light in his eyes slowly faded - losing its life.

He knew that she already died.

Losing all sense of direction, he could no longer distinguish between up and down or tell the difference between left and right - everything felt confusing in this solely white world.

In a world where she left him alone... again.

By slowly letting the cold flakes wrapping him in their cold cover, the temperature within him slowly dropped.

''One chance'', he whispered, his breath visible as white fog. ''I only need one chance.''

As the vicious wind continued to blew hard from the north, cruelly piercing his now pale skin, he leisurely felt all his strength leaving his leg and his knees touching the white snow. Averting his gaze from the sky to the girl in his arms, a weak smile escaped his lips.

''I don't care whether it's God or the devil himself I have to fight against...'', he tightened his grip around her.

''But this time for sure, I won't let you die.''

Both of their bodies lay there in the pure white snow, pale skin matching the surrounding almost perfectly, lips curved into a calm smile - slowly sliding into a dangerous sleep.

If I had another chance... I’d choose to fall in love with you all over again.
