Prologue
It was many years ago when the old world ended and the new world began. Ethan never saw the old world as it was, nor did his father. His grandfather, however, was young when it all happened, and when asked, he would happily tell Ethan what the old world was like. All the marvelous technology, moving pictures, light without fire, being able to talk with someone with long distances between them, marvelous things that Ethan would never get to know. When asked why, his grandfather would answer the same way every time.
“It was just a normal morning,” he’d say, “We were all listening to music, driving our cars to work, when suddenly without explanation it all stopped. No one knew why or what caused it, but almost all of our technology just stopped working. It was only a matter of days before anarchy took over. It was terrible, many died in the following months, and eventually, the world became silent, and people began to rebuild.”
