I speed through the woods, my golden hair flying frantically through the branches. I grasp my fists tight as I dash off into the darkness. Breathless, I pant and gasp as I hop over the thick roots of the towering trees. I am wearing my favourite red dress which has been completely ripped to shreds from all the spiky branches and jaggy bushes. I briefly look back to see a trail of parts of my silky red dress clinging onto the twigs. Sweat dripping down my face like rain; I am a mess.
I can feel the trees arms reaching out to me, pulling at my hair. It makes me yelp. The endless trees gather around me, closing in. My breathing gets heavier and louder. Foot steps stumbling behind me, all I can hear is the snapping, cracking and gasping coming from me and this monster behind me.
It calls out “Olivia come back home!”, in a deep, muffled voice. This only makes me want to run further into the darkness. I make my way faster, faster, faster... THUMP!
A few days earlier
Me and my lovely husband Nick are packing to move house today. I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life with the man I love. Our wedding is in a couple months and I’ve never been happier. I gently kiss Nick goodbye as he jumps in his car to drive to his parents house; he will miss them dearly. I continue to gather the rest of the utensils in the kitchen and shove them into a box with a big clank. Only a few more things to box before I need to shove them into the van.
I stare outside of the window, longingly. I will really miss this little apartment - it has done me well over the years. I shake my head and continue packing.
