Summary

A wish that comes with a catch. A bidding that comes with a cost. And revenge is the devil's dessert after all. "If I agree to this binding, you shall commit your life to me and you will play under my own rules and games. And all your actions will be under my command. Are you sure you're willing to do the worse?" She wanted to know how reliable this god incarnate can be. She needs to put his loyalty to a test. After all, she could make him suffer if she wants to. He smiled sinisterly as he licked his lips in amusement, "But of course, my lady. If it is for no one but you, that is something I am not only willing to do, but determined to. When the battle is done, and you think you have won—don't dance on my grave just yet. If you are the moon, then I am the sun—I will not allow you to forget. In my own time I will take back what's mine, for I am not your friend. In the dark of the night, And the shifting of the tides—I will come for you then.

"DUMP HER INTO THE RIVER!" And just like that, an abrupt feeling of a shivering touch paralyzed her. She was engulfed into cold water, surrounded by black mist. She clenched her burning throat in pain as the saltwater burns her eyes; her vision began to blur. And as she continues to ignore the irritation her eyes were feeling, she stares up at the moon. The moon that watches her slowly perishing with every fall.

The bruises and scars whimpers to the touch of saltwater, her blood trails in front of her, and her long and heavy dress was adding up to her doom. She is aware that she looked utterly ridiculous as she pleads with the moon that peers down on her, begging for another chance to live. At least, another chance to redeem her reputation and pride.

Remembering every memory occuring in this night; 20XX, June 23rd. Every reminiscent made the stinging in her heart increased painfully.

Her lips turned blue as she ran out of oxygen in a matter of minutes, or seconds even. She lets herself go as her body flows deeper into the depths of the cold water.

Is this how I die? With no answers of why, who, and what? If I die now, will I be in peace at the afterlife?

May I even have a second chance?

And with that, she was surrounded by rose petals that filled the empty void with comfort at last. When she couldn't feel the suffocation anymore, she fluttered her eyes open cautiously; to meet face-to-face with a man who was freely floating upon her. She gazes at his hair to his lips. His hair was blonde like Alice, his eyes were similar to that of a mischievous liar, his firm but gentle jaw, and his puffy pink lips.

And with her analysis, she knew that he was no mere human.

"Oh my, what a mess you've gotten yourself into." His voice echoed like a innocent but sinful song. His endearing eyes shone with many mysteries as they study her like a lion peering into its prey. As much as she would love to irritate him with absurd questions, she couldn't find her voice, as though she was muted.

As he landed on his feet, he circled her teasingly, "You must witness how pitiful you look. Someone you thought was your companion abandoned you in shame, your parents left you without even saying goodbye, and after enduring amount of torture, here you are now; vulnerable and dead." He hissed in a sinister way with a playful grin, his chuckles filling the lonely dark void.

She couldn't do anything but toglare daggers towards his direction, he just smirked as he place his fingers delicately on her chin, "But nonetheless, I am nothing but your guardian that will serve you for the next furture years, am I not right?" She looks at him with realization.

"Y-You . . . Are my guardian god?" The words finally left her mouth, coming out as a soft whisper, loud enough to ring into the man's ears.

"Indeed, my lady. So I assume that you are agreeing with this binding?" He tilted his head in anticipation. When she felt the ground again, she stumbled a bit, but she was able to manage her balance.

Her surroundings immediately morphed into a field of sunflowers. Despite her visible scars and bruises, her attire changed into a white flowy dress that stopped above her knees.

A guardian god, something she thought she would never need. As was tolled in folklore, they are incarnates of creatures that rule the land, water, and heaven. They are also incarnates of Greek gods and goddesses as well. They are created to serve and protect their future successor, past down to generation to generation. It didn't matter if they are of the same bloodline or not, it can be given to anyone the incarnate shall choose, and that would be their master.

Everyone has their own guardian god, but there are some cases where you have none at all. They are only summoned if you are in deep agonizing melancholy or when gifted at birth. It depends entirely on how you live your life.

But for her, it was something she never wanted to have. She didn't want the possibility to uphold such title and power given to her, she only desire to live freely under her own decisions.

But now, in the verge of death, treated unfairly by those who dare to defy her, she wanted to show them that she wasn't someone they can blindly underestimate.

Even if I have to dirty my hands for your own needs, I shall assist." He bowed with earnest sincerity. She smiled in delight of his words.

And just like that, she is no longer going to play nice.
