Chapter 1

Chapter one

I was only seven years old, when i heard my mommy screaming. It was really late in the night, the moonlight was pouring through my curtains, hiding the windows. I crept over to a window and moved back the curtains, and looked out . I saw a dark figure staring at me from the ledge, it had a black cape draped over its self. It smiled from ear to ear at me, like it was Christmas and the creature had gotten exactly what he wanted.

I closed the curtains, and ran to my mother and father's room, throwing the door behind me. It hit the wall and left a huge dent as i ignored it and headed towards their door.

When i was close enough, i turned the knob and pushed it forward. I gasped and screamed , before i clasped my hand over my mouth and cried silently.

My mother's lifeless body strung up like a bunch of lights on a house, blood dripping from her wounds and her dress swaying from the wind coming through the broken window in the corner.

I fell to my knees and looked at the ground, puddles of blood stained the carpet. I glanced to see something shiny, i reached out and picked it up carefully. It was my mom's silver chain locket, i opened the heart and saw a small picture of me and smiled softly, still frowning a bit as tears came down my cheeks.

I stood up and wandered around the house, my father was out of the house, like he always was, and wouldn't return until later. Unfortunately I didn't know his number and i couldn't reach the phones.

I headed back to my room and snuggled in the blankets mother had knitted for me, once. I fell asleep and woke to my dad standing over me, "Daddy!" i said and hugged him, still sitting on the bed.

He hugged me back and stared at me, he looked over my legs, arms, hands, and my feet to make sure i wasn't hurt. A usual bruise appeared on my neck, he looked at it as if he were studying for a test. "Where's your mother?" he asked. I scooted off the bed and walked on the hard floor, my feet making a weird smacking sound for every step i made.

My dad followed close behind me, his shoes hit the floor lightly, as if he were walking on air. I opened the door to their room, but i remembered i had left it opened. I pointed at the ceiling and looked and so did my father. "A~a- Vic-to-ria?!" he gasped sounding heart broken, when he saw his wife who has been married to him for five years now, strung up and blood still dripping from her, she swayed lightly with her dress being moved by the winds.

He grabbed my wrist and yanked me towards him and caught me with open arms, "it's okay"he whispered into my ear softly.

He must have spotted the silver chain locket, i had stuffed in to the pocket of my dress. He pulled it out and looked at me, before he told me to hold my hair up. "Your mom would have wanted you to have this..." he said and undid the hook and put the locket in front of my chest and brought the rest of the chain to the back of my neck and re-hooked it. It fell lightly onto the back of my neck, i let my hair fall back over my shoulder's and looked at my father.

"Papa?". "Yes dear?". "What do we do now?" i asked my voice being surrounded by sadness and gloom.

He shrugged, "i do not know my dear..." he hugged me once more. I gave him a small smile and looked into his eyes. "You look just like your mother" he said and moved a piece of hair that had fallen over my eye, and pushed it back. I smiled and a tear escaped my eye and ran down my cheek, but my dad wiped it away and picked me up in his strong arms and carried me back to my room. "Don't worry I'll think of something in the morning, you just rest now " he said and placed me in my bed, and tucked me in. He turned of the lamp and walked out, closing the door behind him.
