In the small town of Ivywood
It was January 13th and I, of course, began to crave Ice Cream. It was the 6th day of my period and my body was really letting me have it. From mood swings to cramps, I definitely understood what it meant to be the perfect example of the worse in everything.
“What do you think I should do?” I asked my all black Cane Corso Magnum.
Magnum cocks her head to the side. She always gave me looks that were so expressive that you could know what she wanted to say without words. With a head tilt, she really wanted me to stay in my little cottage. There is only one room but I believe it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. It was filled with your classic homey feel. I have pictures of everyone in my family on my wall. The couch is beige with white throw pillows and a knitted blanket was thrown over the back of it. My room isn’t very big, the bed is in the middle of the wall, as per most adults. I have a desk tucked away in a corner to the left of my bed.
This cottage was 86 years old and it belonged to my grandmother. She left it to me when she decided to travel the world with my grandfather. She left it to me because I had to get away from the city, it smothered me.
“Okay, Magnum how do you feel about going on a walk? I want to go to the corner store to get some well-deserved Ice cream, and for your hard work, I’ll get you a treat.” Magnum looked at me with excited eyes and ran towards her leash.
“I knew you would like that idea” I laughed as I put her leash on.
The walk wasn’t too bad but the whole time I got the feeling I was being watched. It was a chilling feeling and to be frank, I felt as if this would be my end, but I knew Magnum wouldn’t let anything happen to me. It was a cold night, and my breath came out in quick short clouds. I pretty much jogged when I saw the bright sign of my neighborhood corner store. Getting closer, I decided to look back behind my shoulder.
When I looked back I saw a man dressed in all black slowly walking towards me. At this point, I broke into a full sprint, which Magnum enjoyed. Once I made it in I slammed the door shut and lowered my head. looking over at the cashier, she laughed and shook her head.
I didn’t want the Ice cream anymore, so I walked up and down the isles until I found dog treats. Walking to the front, the cashier eyed my items.
" You ran all the way here for dog treats,” she says while popping her gum and rolling her eyes.
“Why does it matter, you still get paid regardless” I responded.
I paid and left, the man was still in the same general area, just standing there and watching me.
“I guess that’s our cue to go a different way Magnum,” I say while keeping straight instead of turning.
With the occasional look over the shoulder, I continued down the road but eventually, I noticed that he got closer and closer. by this time I knew something was off and sadly where I am on this particular road there was not another house for about a block. Magnum at this point sensed something was wrong, so she turned on her defense and kept herself ready for an attack. but I had a different plan, a plan that had a 50% chance of surviving whatever this man had planned, and that plan was to run to the next house.
The house was secluded, partially inside the forest, everything in me was telling me that I could possibly be making the wrong decision but I didn’t have a better idea. I ran up the driveway and banged on the door. Magnum had begun to growl loudly which was a sign he was very close by.
Three agonizingly long seconds later a man opened the door.
“Please help me!” I frantically yelled.
The man realizing the situation and said “Santo Cazzo” and pushed me and Magnum inside. I thought he would close the door but he proceeded to walk outside and stand there. I found a couch and hid behind it, trying to get magnum to stop growling so we wouldn’t die.
The mysterious man finally walked back in, he instantly spotted us. his eyes were hard and he had blood all over his shirt.
" Are you okay?” I asked him
“Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that? What’s your name?
he chuckled.
“I’m not the one who is covered blood but thank you for asking. I’m terrified right now. My name is Avery Smith and this is my dog Magnum.”
“It’s not my blood it’s his, I can walk you home once I get changed.” He reached down and petted Magnum.
" I’m surprised she’s letting you pet her she’s not good with people outside my family. You never told me your name”
“My name is Antonio” he states while walking off. When he emerged again he had on a different shirt.
" Do you want me to walk you home?”
“Yes, Please”
"Thank God because I definitely didn’t want to ask” I state in my head. Antonio chuckles and walks towards the door.
The walk was comfortable, I felt extremely safe. We had a good conversation about the moon and the sun being a couple. When we finally made it to my home. He watched me go in before leaving. One thing confused me about him though, I don’t know who he is and he obviously is dangerous considering because of that fact, but he acted like he genuinely cared about my safety. you don’t see that often with a man you just met by unforeseen circumstances.
“It’s time to call it a night Magnum” I state while changing into my nightclothes. Magnum gets comfortable in her bed on the right side of my bed. I turned off my light and drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Thank you for reading my story. If you have any comments or advice please feel free to say them. as long as it is coming from a place of love or a good heart.
A few things to know Antonio speaks fluid Italian(I don’t) so if you notice anything out of place or anything that doesn't make sense please let me know. When you see italics that means this is taking place in someone’s mind, meaning a statement or a dream/ vision. Anything bold will be a wolf speaking internally with its human
Last thing if you are an artist and you want to draw a cover please feel free to.
