My Kind of Normal.

Kathrine POV

Hello, my name is Katherine May Johnson. An ordinary girl who is abused by her family, used by her friends, no boyfriend since birth. I always wanted to experience a life that is perfect. No pain, no sufferings. Just happiness and positivity. Now, let me show you how my life works every single day. I wore my headphones and went downstairs. My father and mother immediately asked me for money. My sister just stood there navigating through her phone.

"Money?"

I showed them my wallet which is empty. I walked past them but my sister pushed me towards them and when I turned around, my mother slapped me three times again.

"Ugh! Why don't you have money? Huh? Be like your sister! She is so so smart and pretty while you are just an ugly and a dumb bitch!"

"Your mother is right. Be like your sister."

He was about to punch me in the face but I grabbed his fist and harshly put it down.

"Bye."

I left the house and started to ride my bicycle all the way to school. By the way, the things my parents said about my sister is completely the opposite. In school, she acts like a slut. Kissing boys every single day, always bullying others, even me. Making people do her homeworks, and that is why she got high marks. To be honest, I got high marks too but my parents never appreciated it. Only my sister's. I arrived at school and went on with my 'normal' day.

"Oh look, it's the bitch again."

"Oh it's her."

Whispers and Rumors always reach my ears but I really don't care. At least I know the truth. As I entered, I was welcomed with a bunch of students throwing paper balls at me. I just walked to my locker and as they kept on throwing paper balls to my face. I just fixed my books and went to class. As usual, not listening. But I understand the topic. I just drew at my notebook a dream that I had last night. It was very different from others. I ended up in a forest, the moon shining so bright as I saw the trees are composed of pink and white flowers. The stars were so visible until I heard someone cleared his throat. I turned around and I really can't see his face. He is saying something.

"I will make you happy, okay? Let's meet up at the right time."

Then I woke up from there. What does he mean by that? The teacher called me to answer the equation in the board but I just answered the equation in my mind since it was so easy.

"8x+3y"

I continued drawing until the bell rang and I went to my next class. I entered the room and I sat at the back as always. I saw my sister making out with some random dude but I don't care. The teacher came in and started to discuss a topic that I understand easily.

"Johnson. Since you're not listening please answer my question. What is the story all about?"

I can see my classmates trying to hold back their laughs while my sister is smirking. I just casually answered the stupid teacher's question.

"The story that you are discussing is all about a man who is experiencing deep anxiety and depression. He wants to give up but one night, he had a dream. He ended up in a place where the moon is shining bright, the stars are visible. Then a woman talked to him, telling him that everything is going to be okay. The man believed her. But when he woke up, he experienced depression again. He got mad at that woman and casually tried to kill himself but something stopped him and that is the woman. The man was stunned and he finally had a person to lean on. But plot twist, everyone can't see her. Only him. Everyone thinks he is crazy but the truth is, he is not. He is just talking to the woman she likes. The woman turned out to be a kind witch."

They all looked at me shocked. My teacher just scoffed.

"Then what is-"

"The moral lesson of this story is be patient. Patience is a virtue. You'll get over depression and anxiety soon enough. And who cares what others think? At least you know the truth. What you see is what you get. If you see the one for you, then you'll get him/her soon."

The bell rang and I looked at my watch.

"Oh, it's our break. Bye."

I left the room with my headphones on and went to the rooftop where every student is restricted. Even teachers. I skip meals a lot. I looked up at the sky and wondered how my life will turn out if I experienced the same story that the teacher discussed earlier. Will I have a happy ending? Will I finally experience happiness? I went downstairs to my locker when I heard my name being called. I turned around and I regret turning around.

"What again, Jewel?"

"Look, do my homework, I have a date tonight."

"Okay."

"Thanks! You're really a good friend."

"Yeah. You're really a good slut!"

I mumbled that and she didn't heard it. Jewel is my childhood bestfriend who changed a lot. I feel sad because she is turning to the dark side instead of the right one.
