Prologue
Life. It’s hard, isn’t it? Well, it was for one girl, Lila Celine Romanoff. After she lost her parents on her 9th birthday, she went in search of her Sister for more than a month before actually finding her in New York.
“Tony,” Lila whined, dragging the ‘o’, “I’m bored.” He didn’t even bother to turn to look at her, “I’m busy Lila.”
Lila turned and smirked at Tony, “Doing what?” “God you make it sound kinky,” Tony mumbled.
“Of course! It’s because that is meant to be kinky,” Lila said. “You and your Sister are so different.” “I know.”
Just then, the rest of the Avengers came in. “Wassup fam gam?”
“Morning.”
“Hi.”
“Fam Gam?”
“Mornin’ sis.”
A few hours later, it was dinner time and poor Lila was so very late for dinner.
“She shouldn’t come with us. She’s too young.”
“She should come. The more the better.”
“She could get hurt. Easily.”
“I taught her. You think I don’t know if she’s ready or not?”
“I’m just saying that it’s a huge risk. She might get hurt. Or worse.”
“She can heal. I mean she is half angel.”
“But, she can’t heal from something permanent.”
There was a pause. “Yeah. Guess you’re right...”
“What’s right?” Lila questioned them as she made herself visible. The Avengers turned to her, “How much did you hear?”
“Not much. Just everything. So tell me, what are you talking about. If you don’t tell me now, I’ll figure it out anyways.”
Natasha sighed as she decided to be the one to speak up, “We’re going on a Mission, to retrieve Loki’s staff and I figured why not let you go as well.”
Lila’s eyes lit up immediately as she rubbed her hands together, “That’s great! So, when will we leave?”
The Avengers winced as Natasha continued, “But, there’s a problem. If you go, you’re taking a huge risk. Yes, you’re half angel. But, you can’t heal from permanent damage.”
Lila’s eyes dulled immediately when Natasha said that. Lila thought of something, “Can’t we make a deal?”
The Avengers rose their eyebrows, “Like what?” “I’ll listen to whatever you all say when you let me go on the Mission as well.”
There was a pause. “That is a good deal. That way we all win. One more person on our side and Lila gets to come,” Bruce noted.
“Fine. You can come,” Steve sighed and everyone turned to him, “ What? She’s gonna get it her way either way.” “Yes! So when will we be leaving?” Lila asked them.
“How about now?”
