Prologue
The leaves rustled gently with the wind, as it swishes through the forest; carrying a sweet melody along the way. A few animals stirred from their deep slumber as the music tenderly caresses the creatures of the forest. A deep rumble emits from a dark forest cave, somewhere at the cliff of the mountain. The music ceases but another rumble from the cave has gotten the melody to continue once again.
A baby bird that had recently learned how to fly, was curious as to where the music was coming from. So the little bird leaves the safety of the nest and flew over to where the music was coming from. It lands on a thin branch and stares out into a meadow full of flowers, and right in the middle of all the gorgeous blooming flowers is a small child; sitting at the bottom of the largest tree in the forest; playing a small instrument. The young bird is confused as to why the child would be in the middle of the forest. Maybe it’s lost? The little bird decides to find out for itself and then flew over to a thin branch in the tree where the child was sitting at.
Long golden hair pools at the child’s ankles as it sits down cross-legged on the grass. The child’s eyes are closed in concentration while playing the instrument. Delighted to find out where the music was coming from the tiny bird sets off once again to return home in the safety of its nest.
SNAP!
The branch underneath the bird suddenly snapped causing the bird to go free falling. The music coming from where the child is sitting abruptly stops once again and the bird is caught just before it crashes onto the ground. Soft and plush hands hold onto the bird while it refocuses from the shock of the sudden event.
“Are you okay, little one?” A small voice asks the bird. The said creature stands up slightly shaky and ruffles its feathers in a motion of its pride being hurt. It chirps in a melodic tune trying to get across the message to the child that it was okay and was delighted to find that the child understood.
“Ah, I am glad you are alright then little one. I was afraid I would have to nurse you because you may have a broken wing or something.” The child giggles and the bird once again chirps at it while flapping its wings to show it that it was fine. The child nods its head in understanding while the bird begins to flap its wings harder and faster, gaining air and flying above the child. The child waves goodbye as the bird flies through the forest and returns back to the safety of its nest.
The creature from the cave in the mountain watches on in mild amusement but was shocked when a pair of bright blue-grey eyes catches its own. The creature lets out a deep rumble and its eyes glow bright gold, immediately frightening the child and causing it to scurry away into the depths of the forest and back where it came from.
‘What a strange child’ The creature thought.
