O n e - E n c o u n t e r

Jungkook's POV:

I fixed my cap and waited on the roof of the abandoned building.

The work did not allow me to smoke but I was too sleepy to sit straight so I carefully lighted a cigarette, mindful of not dropping any butts.

Taking a long puff, I took out the picture of the target again.

My senses heightened suddenly.

The target was in sight.

Without a second's delay, I got in position and peered through the sniper gun.

The target was a short, stout man - women on each arm, coming out of the club, a little tipsy.

He was the kind of man no one would miss and that's the kind of filth I take out.

Alright, let's get this over with before my cigarette burns off.

And suddenly my muscles tensed and I was focused.

Taking my aim, I pulled the trigger on the silenced sniper and within nanoseconds, the man stumbled backwards.

A clean shot to the head.

I didn't stick around to hear the women screaming.

"Shit," I muttered when I saw the men chasing after me.

Suddenly adrenaline coursing through my veins, I hit accelerator and the bike roared to life, flying away.

Sure that I had lost the tail, I slowed down.

...only to be kicked right off my bike.

I didn't have to touch my forehead to know I was bleeding.

Spitting angrily, I got up and sighed. The rush was getting to my head now.

As soon as I got up, a baseball bat came swinging at me and tsked. "Got me once, my bad. Not twice," and grabbed the bat with one hand.

And I squared a kick right in his abdomen.

The other two came forward as he stumbled backward.

I knew I had to finish this quickly so I grabbed the weakest looking bastard and used him for the defensive while I took the other two down.

As they all lay agonizing in pain, I wiped the blood from my lip and pulled my bike up.

Then carried on as if nothing happened.

The cool wind across my face contrasting the heat dissipating was the feeling worth killing for - pun intended.

The rush, the purpose - nothing else gave me that feeling... but now that feeling was getting to my head.

That's when I realized that I was losing too much blood because I suddenly felt light headed.

I was in the middle of this realization when out of nowhere, a girl came in front of me and my heart fell painfully at the shock as I tried to brake simultaneously.

All I heard was a scream before I fell off the bike.

Quickly getting up and wincing through the pain, I saw the girl under my bike.

"Oh, no. Hey! Are you okay?," I asked as I slowly lifted the bike up.

Thankfully I couldn't see any blood but that didn't mean she wasn't hurt.

She hissed and stirred. Then came to.

"Y-You're bleeding," was the first thing she said.

But before I could react, the gang members arrived and I cursed under my breath.

I looked at the girl and grabbed her hand. "We have to run. Can you do that?"

She looked shocked. "What?"

I didn't have time to explain so I took her by the hand and pulled her to her feet. Without a warning I started running, pulling her behind me.

I don't know how long we ran but once in a dark alley, I stopped.

It was a narrow lane between buildings. Barely enough for two people to fit but looking at the girl doubled over her knees, I figured it was worth the chances.

"Sorry," I said and pulled her in.

"Wha-"

"Hold your breath in."

And I pulled her close to me so that we were cooped up face to face and stuck so close it felt like we would merge any second.

"Hey-," she started but I put a hand on her mouth. Her eyes became even bigger than they were.

She shifted on the balls of her feet, rubbing against me and an involuntary shudder left me.

I pleaded with her through my eyes but she didn't understand.

She was uncomfortable.

I put both my hands on either side of her face in an attempt to get some space between us but who was I kidding? I could feel her all over me.

Even breathing made me awfully aware of her breasts...

And both of us breathing heavily.

Don't go commando, don't go commando, don't you dare. Think of anything other than her... uh.. breas- ducks! What the- no-

I pursed my lips. Shit.

She gasped and slowly looked down, frowning.

I have never been more humiliated in my life.

This is not the kind of high I wanted.

"Find him! He came this way!," one of the men screamed and both of us sucked in our breaths.

"The motherfucker was injured. He couldn't have gone far."

"He took a hostage with her."

"Kill her too."

And I felt her shiver. I looked at her. She slowly raised her big, innocent eyes at me. She was questioning me.

For some reason, I wanted to assure her she was safe with me.

The irony wasn't lost on me.

But I felt her calm and slacken when the gangsters moved on.

When I was sure they were gone, which was after an eternity, I pried myself away from the alley and came out.

"You can come out now. They're gone, it's safe."

"Is it?"

I looked back at her and smiled. "Yes."

"Oh." She pointed at my forehead. She walked over closer to me and raised her hand. Reflexively my hand shot up and grabbed hers.

"You're bleeding."

I looked at her face and realized she was bleeding from the side of her mouth as well.

"So are you," I said, a little in awe at how she missed the fact she was hurt.

"I know, but yours is worse. Can I have a look?"

A smile touched my lips as she stood on tiptoes and gently moved my hair away from my forehead.

And took some tissue from her bag and lightly dabbed at the wound.

"Let's get out of this dark alley," I said.

When we walked back to my motorbike, I asked where she lived so I could drop her off. I didn't expect her to tell me so I changed my question.

"Where do I drop you?"

She looked at my wound again and said, "Pharmacy."

I don't know why but my heart jolted at that. Why would a stranger care? When she had all the reasons to be scared of me.

While she tended to my wound outside the pharmacy, I studied her face for the first time since I saw her.

Funny how I didn't notice how beautiful she was.

But our encounter was a bit... unusual.

"Say," she said, applying ointment, "what's your name?"

Of all the things I thought she would ask me, this wasn't one of them.

"J-Jungkook," I stuttered. I couldn't give my name to a stranger, but...

"I wish I could say "nice to meet you" without laughing."

And then I saw it: the humor in her eyes.

Up until I hadn't realized how absurd it all was. Our encounter was.

"I'm y/n."

"Well, it is nice to meet you. At least for me," I smiled at pointed to the freshly taken care of wound.

She returned the smile and wiped her own blood off.

It wasn't lost on me that she only tended to herself after she was done with me. Who on earth is like that?

I sighed and looked away.

The big elephant was there.

"Aren't you going to ask who I am, why those men were chasing me? Am I...," I trailed off.

"...a bad guy?," she asked.

A killer.

But she chose the mildest of the terms. I nodded nonetheless.

"You haven't done anything bad for me to judge you," she said in a matter of fact way.

She was joking, right?

"And for the fact who you are and what you do... I have a feeling you won't tell me so I didn't bother asking."

Was she real?

I don't know why but I smiled at that.

"Aren't you scared of me?"

She pouted. "Should I be?"

"Yes."

She looked at me, a bored expression on her face and shrugged. "I'm not, sorry."

And she bowed down and said, "I'll take my leave now, Bunny."

What did she call me?

But I wouldn't ever get to ask her that. She was just a stranger I'd never get to meet again.
