Chapter 1
The last thing Nic remembers is explosions, the deafening noise of babies crying and thundering gunshots. The sound of heavy machinery and digital voices announcing their will to overthrow the human race. This was the end for mankind and the start of a newer, non-biological species. The androids.

“Nicolette Simpson!”
“That’s me” She blurted as she emerged from a crowd of scared people towards the lit cylindrical compartments.
“This is your capsule. You will stay in here for as long as the machines permit. Hopefully you won’t be alone in the new world"
The new world scared Nic. She was afraid of the unknown and the thought of being alone in a post apocalyptic world, terrified her. No family, no companions, she’d rather be dead than alone, humans weren’t meant to be isolated.
The man continued to type on his tablet. “Step in there”
Her breathing quickened “Will I be aware of the time that elapsed when I’m... ?” she wondered.
“Are you aware of time when you’re asleep?” he said half sarcastically
“No” she stated.
“Then you’ve got nothing to worry about.” He assured her. “When you wake up, don’t have any expectations. Remember that you may be alone when you wake up. And remember to remain calm.” He coached.
“Easier said than done” she mumbled, as she slowly climbed into the tube-like chamber.
This whole situation made her feel queasy, but for the good of the human race, she had to survive.
The door to her capsule shut suddenly sending chills slowly down her spine. She felt claustrophobic for the first time in her 17 years and couldn’t shake the feeling that she was going to die. Therapeutic hypothermia was not meant to last for an indefinite amount of time. And yet, here she was, preserving the human race equipt with nothing but her human anatomy.
The man sensed her fear. “You’ll be fine” he reassured her.
“I’ll be fine” She repeated under her breath, having no promise that she actually would.
With that, her capsule initiated, sending her into a deep slumber. Never again to be awakened for another 232 years.
