The Rumor
Hey its was awesome for you to come over for a sleepover. We will have so much fun, also we could even watch some scary movies. Oooh. Elise wanna grab a snack? Sure. Want a scooby snack? (Not like she just had one before she left) yes! (They eat in giggles)
Hey Lillie wanna go in the broken barn in the woods? People say its haunted. I bet there will be gross dead rats. Ew! So you wanna go? Do you think it's safe there? I dont know, I guess we'll find out. Alright I'll go. I'll text my mom that we are going on a walk.(The two girls walk and talk about there experiences)
"Lillie starts to talk" I read in the newspaper that the the strange figure appeared again. strange figure? You dont know? Know what? There has been a rumor about a strange figure since 1956. They say there is a fighre that walks these woods since 1956. That year in these woods at the barn we are going to a man was killed there. They day that he died from being hanged. What! I know its creepy!
(They see the barn up ahead) are you sure we should go in there? Are you serious because we walked all the way here and we are not turning back. (Elsie takes a big breath) Ok let's go inside.
(The girls enter the barn) Wow! It is a little cold in here Lillie. Well the barn is really old and no one has been in this barn since the murder happened. Wow look at these blood stains! EW! Look! It's a skull of his head and there are bones scattered everywhere! I'm getting scared of this place Lillie. Please can we go now because I dont want to be in here any longer.
Wait. Look! It's a letter and its was written in a quill pen! It says. "Who ever reads this I am dead. I must say that I ran out of time and I must go with my family and be in peace. My journey will be long but if I dont make it I ----- (the writing stopped in the middle of the page) The letter is not finished. Not even with a signature but it does have the date. January 13,1956.
Ya let's go now I'm getting scared also. (The girls leave the barn and go to Lillie's house) Well I'm to creeped out to tell stories and watch scary movies. Let's watch Grease. Fine with me. (As the girls watch Grease half an hour later they hear banging on the door) Ahhhhhhh! What was that! (The girls sit on the couch frightened and lillie's mother comes in) Hey are you going to answer the door Lillie? No. Fine I will. (She opens the door and no one is there) That's strange no one is here.
Well who ever that was is probably trying to play tricks on us.(the girls were scared out of there minds) "the girls whispered" Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I think so. The strange figure (they said at the same time)
the next day the girls woke up and dug into the internet to find more information about the strange figure. The girls found a old newspaper about it and discovered the figure was a man and his name was John Hickman. The girls were finally getting somewhere.
So wanna go back to the woods and find the man and try to talk with him? Yes because I want to help that man.(when the light falls and night comes the girls go out into the barn and investigate) I cant believe we are in here investigating. Maybe when I grow up I will work for the FBI. Oh Elsie your so childish.
(Then the girls find the rope from where he hanged) ahhh! Here is the rope he must have hanged from! There is so much evidence Lillie.( Then they hear scratching on the wood panels in the barn) wow! What was that? Then they see the man.the figure.the rumor. The girls froze with fear but they looked as calm as possible.The girls saw the truth with there own eyes. He did not hang himself. Somone did.
The man looked like an aged dead body. He had no eyes,his skin was white as snow,his teeth has rotten and his clothes ripped. The man talked. He explained that his family died in a tragic fire but he was working at a financial center while it happened. He didnt find out until he came home after.
He also said that he wont rest in peace with his family until he gets to kill his killer.....Michael grafton. I want you to lead me to him then I can take care of the rest and then I can go to peace.
How can I do that he lives in st. Monico! If you dont I will haunt your family until the end of time. I just want to go to my family as well as you want your family to live.(the girls were is Shock and scared)
...Alright I'll help. Lillie will to. What! Do you want your family to get haunted horribly? Well no but...Then your going to help. Fine. Alright we both will help. I'll ask my dad if we can visit my aunt in st. Monico then we will track the man down and you can do it.
Accepted. Alright...when will we talk again? Tomorrow 2 PM sharp.yes and I will have your answer by then. Goodbye.( the man fades and they both go home) alright meet me tomorrow at that time here then I guess. Goodbye and goodnight.
THE NEXT MORNING
(Lillie wakes up and has her breakfast and goes for a run and thinks about what happened last night) what happened. I saw a man that needs help and I agreed....I'm stupid. Hey dad can I ask you something.... can we got to see aunt Mary in st. Monico? I want to bring Elsie with us so she can meet her. please? Let me think about it. Okay.
Lillie waits, and waits, and waits and finally at 11:00 am her dad said yes and that Elsi can come. Lillie was yelling with joy. She was so excited that the Journey was about over.
2 PM
Elsie and Lillie were in the barn waiting for the man to appear. Then in a blink of an eye he was there and the same as last time. Hello so the answer is yes and we are leaving tomorrow morning and I already discussed it over with Elsie and she agrees and we will be there around noon and my aunt and my dad are going to be doing some things so it will give us enough time to do it.
"The man nods it acceptance and fades and the girls pack and Elsie spends the night with Lillie and they get on the plane in the morning and head off" I'm so glad to be flying in a plane and just to notify I'm not going to get plane sick. Good bc I dont want to fly all the way back with you sick everywhere Elsie. (The girls laugh)
Yes we finally landed at 3 hours but to say it was a nice trip here on the plane I'm glad we got to be in 2nd class not economy. Okay let's look up Michael Grafton. Wow there are at least 425 results on here. Then the man appeared. Oh God you scared me. Sorry I scared you it's just that I appear very still and quiet. The man pointed to a result. Here, that's him. Wait he only lives at least 10 blocks from here.lets bike there. My aunt has many bikes of mine from the past.
(The girls bike to the direction of his house) Here we are. Then the man appears. You are right Mr. You do appear very quietly. The man turns around and hands a knife to the girls. Why are you giving this to me? I need you to kill him for me. WHAT! you said not about us doing the job! You must because I'm running out of time.
when you do I will make sure all security cameras dead and all curtains shut in the whole neighborhood and I'll make sure no one is around. When you kill him, you stab him in the neck and take it out.must wear gloves he is around his mid 70s so he will not make it.
Then your job is done then I'm will be in finally with my family in peace. That is a lot to take in but we must ok? Okay.get ready girls this will be the hardest thing you will ever do. Give me 3 minutes and I'll take care of your surroundings. okay. were ready.
Lillie go around the back of the house and check the doors. If there open let me in and you stay outside in case someone pulls into the drive way or the neighbors. Alright. (Lillie checks the back door) Lillie gives a hand signal to come. Its unlocked Elsie. Okay let me in...be careful okay Elsie? I will and I promise I'll come back alive.(they rapped pinkies around d to swear)
Elsie goes inside. ( takes quiet deep breaths) oh I hope I can do it. (She puts on leather gloves) takes the knife out of her pocket. She stands still when she sees him.....sleeping. she takes a big big breath and go into his room.
It looked so nice and white. She closes her eyes......she lifts the knife up. Then she whispers "I'm so sorry" the stabs him in the throat. And then tears roll down her cheeks and she takes the knife out and let's the blood sink down on the nice white silk sheets.
Then she stands up and takes water and scrubs the floor so no footprints are left behind then cleans up the mess and walks out of the house. I did the job. Lillie's eyes started to flood with water also. They walk to ther bikes and once lillie sits on her bike she sobs. Then Elsie does to. I hope he will be in peace to. I hope so too. Now we are free.
As they ride home they fix there selves up so they dont look like they did something or something happened. Once they get home they enjoy there rest if the stay. You did a brave thing Elsie, something I dont think I could do. We both did and let's never forget this day.(they huh each other)
From that day on the man has never showed up and the girls grew up to be just the most wonderful friends and they have amazing careers and they never forgot the day and they are always proud for they did the right thing.they know the man is in peace with his family.
