Chapter 1 What Happened To Hip Hop

What happened to Hip Hop

A poem about the rise and fall of Hip Hop

What happened to Hip Hop when rappers had bars When you had to be lyrical and had to flow hard cyphers and battles went on in the park this would happen till it got dark

Rappers were lyrical and very real

They said things that could make you feel

What happened to when biting wasn’t allowed

When you had to stand out from the crowd

Pac Biggie Run DMC EPMD

Just an example of what it used to be

Back when they used to breakdance in the street

and kids used to wear shell top Adidas on their feet

when you looked to programs like Rap City and Yo MTV Raps

Just to see who was putting Hip Hop on the map

that’s why I’m glad we still have old school and underground so we don’t lose the way Hip Hop ussd to sound

What happened to Hip Hop being culture

Instead of being someone’s vulture

Back when DJ’s nedded 2 turntables and a mic in order to make the crowd at a party hype

Happy birhday to a Hip Hop King

Poem dedicated to Jay Z for his birthday

Done on December 4 2018

Happy birhday to Hip Hop’s king

Who At one point was doing his thing

You’re defeniteley a legend in Hip Hop

Cause you came in while it was still hot

Reasonable Doubt is a classic

Brought you years of success mastered

After Biggie you are New York’s king

Both of y’all do your thing

Even though you stole his rhymes

We won’t penalize you or call it a crime

Cause you showed respect to a legend

Who’s now in the Gates of heaven

So legend we hope you enjoy your day

You’re still graat in every way

Today you may be 48

Doesent matter cause you’re still great

Another name we call you is Hova

Cause Battling you they know it’s over

Happy birthday King 👑👑👑👑👑👑

A birthday poem for Hip Hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash done on January 1 2018

Today we wanna say happy birthday king

Cause you still a legend in Hip Hop

And you do your thing

Years ago The Message came and was real

Still to this day it makes us feel

You were one of the original DJ’s to use

2 turntables and a mic

Cause of that you still get the party hype

So today us fans of Hip Hop show love

To a man who gets his skills from above

You will always be a legend in the game

No one can beat you or top your fame

So I just wanna say we love you

For being a great and doing what you do

2 Hip Hop legends gone

Tribute poem for Pac and Biggie

You’re both 2 Hip Hop legends gone

You both made Hip Hop strong

Both murdered due to senseless beef

Still leaving Hip Hop in disbelief

Hip Hop is permanently scarred

To lose legends as great as you both are

Hip Hop to this day still mourns you guys

Cause you’re both greats in our eyes

So now and forever Hip Hop cries

We will moun you both forever and forever

As artists y’all were both clever

That’s why y’all are both legends

Floating in the Gates of heaven

Even Though y’all have been gone for years

Like you say Pac we shed So Many Tears

You guys both answered to the words of a gun

I guess the good really do die young

So this is showing we love you and we care

Also saying see you both when we get there

Salute to the legends that we lost

Tribute poem for Eazy E Freaky Tah Pac Biggie Big Pun Big L Aaliyah Left Eye Jam Master Jay Nate Dogg Whitney

Salute to the Legends in Hip Hop and R’NB that had to go this scars from the hurt we feel are easy to see which we know still flow

still we love you all you’re all musical legends that’s why God called y’all back to his kingdom in heaven

You guys have all been gone for many years knowing this we still shed many tears

Never will we stop showing y’all love

We know y’all are watching from above

So one place we know y’all will be

Is permanently implemented in our memory

We love you all yes you are all still here

Your legacy’s live on year after year

So even though you guys left too soon

For your legacies we will always have room

As the saying goes legends never die

That’s because y’all multiply

Why we gotta lose the legends

A poem for the Hip Hop /R’NB Legends we lost

Why we gotta lose the legends

Why must y’all enter the gates of Heaven

When y’all left so did the music game

Since we lost y’all hasn’t been the same

The day that all of y’all died

Is really why all of us cried

So we just wanna say we love you

For making the impact that you still do

Y’all having to leave is not fair

But we love you and we’ll see you there

The music world is permanently scarred

Losing those as great as y’all are

Hip Hop visions

A poem about 2 Biggie dreams and one 2 Pac dream I had a while ago

A while ago I had 2 Biggie and one Pac dream that seemed so real

At least having them that’s what I could feel

My first one was Biggie recording Juicy in the studio it was great seeing him flow up close

Another dream featured Mr Cee

With my fams Curtis Florence and Howie Wilson interviewing him about Biggie

The next dream was a Pac dream took place in 92 watching him film his debut Juice

Both these dreams just made me wish Pac and Biggie were still here

Their murders make us shed tears for years

Even though they Hip Hop MVP’s

Pac Biggie Hip Hop still shows you love

We know y’all flowing for god up above

The day the turntables died

A poem in tribute to Jam Master Jay Of Run DMC

Penned on the 16 year anniversary of Jam Master Jay’s murder October 30 2018

On this day 16 years ago the turntables died

So from then on and Forever Hip Hop cried

The Hip Hop culture is permanently scarred

To lose someone as great as you are

Because of you Run DMC reached success

An iconic group better then the rest

No other DJ will ever pass that test

You were murdered for no reason at all

Loved and respected yet you still took the fall

You Answered to the words of a gun

Proof that the good really do die young

No one else in Hip Hop can fill your shoes

For If they tried they would surely lose

No one else in Hip Hop can take your place

Anyone who thinks that is a disgrace

So before I go lemme say this brotha

You’re truly a great no there can be no other

Happy birthday to the queen of Hip Hop soul

A birthday poem for Mary J Blige

Happy birthday to the queen of Hip Hop soul

You’re defeniteley someone who inspires

Takes Everyone’s spirits higher

Thinking about you

Tribute to Aaliyah

Thinking about you I can’t help but cry

Tears so heavy they burn my eyes

17 years since you been gone

But your Legacy still lives on

Cause it still is that strong

One In A Millon yes you’re a legend

Who god called back to the gates of Heaven

Knowing you’ve been gone 17 years

Makes me do like Pac shed “So Many Tears”

We still can’t Beleive you had to go

We really wanted to see your career grow

All these years we’ll still never forget you

Cause you’re still great and we love you

Everyone who loves you can defeniteley see

Just how big you were about to be

We wish you never got on that plane

Cause then we wouldn’t feel the pain

So charismatic talented and sweet

Never cried over someone I’d never meet

So Aaliyah we love you so much

From the people who’s lives you still touch

a week since we lost you

Another tribute poem to my fam my guy my brotha Kenny Moultrey aka Pops

A week since we lost you I’m still in grief

It’s all due to my denial and dibeleif

Some days I wanna think this is just a dream

That the pain and hurt isn’t as real as it seems

Been a week Since Losing my mentor/brother

No one takes your place there is no other

This is because I love who you are

Your passing leaves me emotionally scarred

I love you Pops yeah you’re the best

Always be better then the rest

They don’t Beleive it put it to the test

Cause your legacy is in me and others

Chapter 5 poems about so y’all can get to know me a little better

If I could speak to my younger self

a poem about what I would say to the younger me

If I could meet the younger me today

I would defeniteley have some things to say

First off have self love first before others

If you don’t then you can’t love another

You really don’t need a lot of friends

Cause very few will really be there till the end

People are gonna Change and move on

Even if you try to hold on to them very strong

Just because you got history with someone

Don’t mean that they’re there in the long run

Stop depending on people to make you feel

The sense of approval they make you feel

Cause not everyone with you is real

Some people you just have to let go

This is so mentally and emotionally you grow

Stop blaming your mom for her mistakes

Give her Credit for giving you to foster care

Basically making your life great

This is what i would say to the younger me

If I could go back to my younger days

These are the things I would say today

Why must we argue with those we love

A poem about how we argue with those closest to us

Why must we argue with those we love

Instead of seeing what hurt it does

We just need to agree to disagree

So we can see how dumb arguing can be

We need to learn to get along with loved ones

Because arguing with them is no fun

We need to see with family we’re blessed

Instead of arguing making us stressed

Arguing never solved one thing

Stress and hurt is all it brings

So we need to decrease arguing in size

Realizing that in the end someone cries

So stop arguing with family

Instead let’s see what better they could be

To have a Strong relationship gotta connect

A poem about what a good relationship means to me

To have a strong relationship we gotta connect

There’s gotta be some kinda nuetral respect

There’s most defeniteley gotta be trust

Otherwise the relationship will be a bust

Make sure with me you always come real

Always letting me Know how you feel

Evan if the truth hurts

I’d rather the truth then being lied to and treated like dirt

Building up trust if It’s lost can take me years

Because of the abandonment losing trust is one of my fears

I need someone who’s loyal and true

If you tell me you’re loyal make sure you make me Beleive you

Cause like the saying goes actions speak louder then words

So if you break my trust you can fly like a bird

I’m really working on loving myself

A poem about why I do for me mostly

I’m really working on loving myself

Not worrying about anyone else

Gotta do one thing and that’s take care of me

If I’m gonna really be the best that I can be

Abandonment told me look out for self

If you don’t can’t look out for anyone else

I need to work on accomplishing my goals

Even if I gotta leave others out in the cold

Even though I love others which I see

But worrying about what They’re doing

Won’t get me where I need to be

I need to be strong determined and motivated

Even though to some I’ll be hated

Those are the people That don’t care

That to me what I gotta be is fair

In the end I gotta look out for me

If I’m gonna be the best I can be

Like Pac says “Only God Can Judge Me

Family is not always by blood

A poem about what family is

Family doesen’t always mean blood

It has more to do with caring and love

This I learned being in foster care

Cause to this day they’re still there

Real family sometime have friction

If you don’t think that you’re living in fiction

So this is for my physical and Facebook family

I love you all more then y’all could see

Certain family I’ve had to let go

Cause I was being hurt and needed to grow

So thank you to the family who stuck by me

Showed me compassion and loyality

Showed me caring kindness and love

Helped my spirit fly like a dove

So I wanna say thank you for all

Who are there through good and when I fall

Why must ya’ll always have the last word

A poem for those I argue with a lot

Why must ya’ll always have the last word

I really honestly think that’s obsurd

That all of us just wind up being hurt

Even though I’m being very real

Just really saying how I feel

I really don’t think it’s fair

How I say my feelings and y’all don’t care

Between us we can’t seem to communicate

Cause that seems to only agrivate

Y’all seem to think y’all know better then me

It hurts a lot but y’all don’t even see

Proves those your close to could hurt you

Just by their actions and what they do

I’m a writer / poet Before anything else

Another poem about my writing

I’m a writer / poet before anything else

No my work don’t just sit on the shelf

It’s delivered the minute I get inspired

This way I make sure my work is fire

Shout out to my homeboy Redgie

Just for making sure writing wise I’m ready

As well as to my homie Dough

We both got work that’s fire they know

From one writer to another it’s all love

All made possible by the man above

Yes writing is a very special gift

Sonething That can take you on a drift

As well as take your soul for a lift

Thank you all for showing love to my blood sweat and tears

To a god given gift I’ve had for years

Childhood abandonment

Poem about abandonment

Childhood abandonment can really Suck

Can make you just emotionally stuck

Years of people lying they’ll be there

So you wonder if they truly care

All the hurt Greiving and lying

Can keep you up all night crying

Makes you really lose trust

Through the years that becomes a bust

Makes you think it’s not fair

That certain people just don’t care

This makes you more aware

But in the end you realize they were wrong

It can also make you strong

Abandonment will make you not do

Exactly what was done to you

The 🔥That Burns Inside my ❤️

A poem about my passion for writing

I got a 🔥that burns inside my ❤️

It’s been doing this from the start

That’s a full 39 years

Because you’re getting blood sweat and tears

This is most defeniteley my gift

The thing that will take your soul for a lift

You’re getting everything very real

Basically just how I feel

39 years on this planet earth

Makes me see my gift for what’s it’s worth

Living in a a world that so cold

I do like Dough says and touch souls

My writing work is defeniteley 🔥

Words used to inspire take you higher

This writing is defeniteley somthing I love

Take your spirit higher and fly like a dove

I’d rather be me instead of Conform

A poem about my confidence

I’d rather be me instead of conform

rather do my own thing instead of the norm

I don’t do things just to fit in

Cause I’m confident and can hold up my chin

Certain people don’t understand

That at the end of the day I’m a unique brand

Being a leader is what I chose to be

Cause at the end of the day I’m pleasing me

Because it’s gonna get me where I need to be

Nobody else’s opinions of me cross my mind

Cause If it did that would leave me behind

So If you like me or not I really don’t care

Cause what I’m trying to be to me is fair

The one thing I love to do is write

It gets my thoughts out with all my might

So I could care less wether or not you like me

Cause at the end I’m gonna just be me

At the end all I Could do is Keep it real

Just tell the people how i feel

At The end of the day I’m gonna do me

Be the best I know how to be

I could care less about someone’s opinion

Cause at the end I have my own vision

Chapter 6 poems for people I know in dedication of their greatness

You got too much strength to defeat

Anyone that says they top you it’s all lies

As a father and best friend you’re the best

Defeniteley better then the rest

Everyday with you is Fathers Day

Cause I make you proud in Every way

Happy birhday to my third mom

A birhday poem for my foster sister Christine Martin-Lohsen

Happy birhday to my third mom

A woman who raised me to be bold and strong

Raised me from when I was 4 years old

Helped me get by in a world that’s so cold

Thank you for the baths when i was a kid

And having the bond with me that you did

It’s because of me you’re such a great mom

Cause you’re bold confident and strong

So I hope you enjoy this day and many more

Hoping the good lord has things in store

So today I just wanna say thank you

For raising me right doing what you do

Chapter 7 poems for us artists

Here’s to us artists

A poem for all of us as artists that touch so many

Here’s to us artists who do it from the heart

Cause we’ve had the gift from the very start

Here’s to us artists who like to touch souls

Cause our work is timeless never gets old

We were put here to show our gift

to take that soul for a lift while at the same time our Mind going on a drift

Us artists always have our head in the clouds

This is why our creativity is loud

For the more we go and let our minds flow

Throughout the years in our work it shows

So we really need to thank the man up above

For giving us the gift to do what we love

Married To The Game (Sequal to my last Artist dedication poem (Here’s To Us Artists

Another poem for us artists

For years Now we been married to the game

No we don’t do this for recognition or fame

We do this because this is what we love

All thanks to the man up above

Everything we speak is from the heart

We’ve been doing that way from the start

We do this because of a common goal

Because of our passion touching souls

Everything we speak is very real

Based off of passion and what we feel

God handed us this wonderful gift

So we could take your soul for a lift

The pad the girl the pen the ring

So now we can really do our thing

So as an artist we say thank you

Like a wedding we saying “ I do”

So thank you to the man up above

For giving us this gift to do what we love

Chapter 8 When Will It End

A poem about ending racism

When will it end

A poem inspired by the content in The Hate You Give and events of the last few years

These past few years seem to be a negative trend

Brutal racist killings oh when will it end

Innocent lives taken for no reason at all

And it’s always innocent blacks who take the fall

In the words of Rodney King “can’t we all just get along “ and see that all this racist killing is wrong

We should all be uniting so we can be strong

R.I.P. Trayvon Jordan Eric Freddy Alton and Phillandio

Your senseless murders we will never let go

You guys are still in our prayers everyday

That’s saying we love you our own special way

You guys killings have angered us for years

Just like your families we’re still in tears

So before I end this and go

All I’ll say to you guys is we love you and see you at the crossroads

Next month belongs to you brotha

A poem for Trayvon Martin who’s birhday and murder anniversary are next month

Next month we remember you Trayvon

Cause your legacy is strong and lives on

Coming home from 7 Eleven carrying Skittles

And an Arizona iced tea wearing a hoodie

Who’d think that would be the last night

That you Would ever see

Zimmerman wasn’t found guilty for killing you

That’s something we can’t get used to

Cause you were so young

And had your whole life to live happily

Instead Zimmerman wanted you 6 feet

So Trayvon we just wanna say

That we’ll see you when it’s our turn

To go through them gates

When will all this racism stop

Another poem about these racist killings

When will all this racism stop

We’re tired of seeing innocent blacks

Shot and killed by cops

As well as those who are not

We’re supposed to be united and strong

And see that this is just plain wrong

So to all our fallen brothas we love

We know y’all are watching up above

Fights for justice have been hard

So Much that they leave us mentally scarred

We love y’all and we’ll never forget

Your killers taking you out they should regret

Especially cause y’all were all unarmed

Not causing anybody a bit of harm

So we love y’all yes we defeniteley care

We’ll never forget y’all and we’ll see you there

I’m sitting there alone in the dark

Dedicated to my homie Dough for coming with first 2 lines of inspiration

I’m sitting here alone in the dark

Snipers leaving they mark

Attack you like a shark

Me Dough and BlackLaw a team you see

Cause like Dough says we Legendary

So Dough we both poets

They’d better know it

I don’t even gotta spit

Like you said I write quick

That’s why my words are thick

Close to a rapper but i don’t rap

My words come up like a sneak attack

My words are legit

Cause My writing is a hit

Cause I do something I love

Getting the gift from the man above

Chapter 10 we need to dump Trump

We need to dump Trump

A poem abort why Trump shouldn’t be president

We need to dump Trump and his stupid wall

Cause he’s not a good president at all

Dough you ask on Crazy World

“What makes him qualified

Noting we can see in our eyes

He’s Racist sexist and mocks the disabled

This is why as president he’s incapable

These reasons are why he shouldn’t have

Ran for a second term

Cause he’s bad and spreads like a germ

The stupid republicans voted him in

But when he gets out we will grin

So Trump we hope this is your last year

This way you get out and we could cheer
