Chapter 1

Ashley’s POV:

It was my first day in this new town. It was frustrating moving all the boxes but I liked moving because it has a new experience with new people to meet. My first day of school was starting tomorrow and I was so excited to make a bunch of new friends. I could start new because I have a good reputation that was until I entered the halls of school the next day.

The next day

As I walked into school everyone stopped talking and turned to stare my way. I was used to this in my old school but I didn’t know the rumours of my brother being in a gang would also come to this school. As if I wasn’t having a bad enough day realising how bad my reputation was I was walking to my class and I bumped into a brick wall causing all my books to scatter on the ground.

I looked up to see the face of a really hot guy who literally looked like a Greek god. I should stop drooling but he was just that amazing. Realising he was the brick wall I bumped into I thought my day could get better considering the clichĂ© high school scene where the boy helps pick up the girls books when they bump into each other but I guess the world really wasn’t on my side today.

He started cursing and then yelled “Who the fuck do you think you are wasting my time. Get out of my way!” I wasn’t a person to let something like that slide so I picked up my books and said clear enough for him to hear and some other people surrounding us too. “Who I am is none of your business and you should be the one getting out of my way. You bumped into me. Care to apologise!” I yelled back annoyed. Obviously I ended it with my hair flip and strutted away before he could say anything back.

As I got into class everyone stared as usual and so I decided to sit at the back of the class and just ignore everything around me. The teacher didn’t really say anything. I assumed she heard about the rumour too.

The day passed horribly because I got an after school detention but I found out that the Greek god I bumped into and screamed at was none other than the bad boy of the school. I didn’t really care as much considering my brother was overprotective of me and he was also the bad boy in our old school. He will probably become the bad boy of this school too. With random bad boy thoughts in mind I walked to the detention room. A detention on my first day of school. Amazing!

I walked in head held up high considering my brother was already here and everyone knew about the rumours. I took a seat at one of the tables and literally two seconds later the Greek god. I should stop calling him that well his name is Brandon.

So Brandon walked in and everyone started shivering and you could sense their fear and then you see me and my brother sitting there talking like nothing happened. Brandon turned to glare at us and my brother only smirked back at him while I rolled my eyes at them. These two were going to have to see who the real bad boy of the school is soon before they caused a fight. Well the teacher didn’t turn up because apparently they aren’t payed enough to be bothered to stay after school but we had to stay because they had cameras and so they blackmailed us.

Brandon sat next to me and the whole detention was me trying to move my head in the way of my brother and Brandon so that they would stop glaring at each other but that earned annoyed slaps from my brother Aiden and stupid remarks like “I wonder if your head is as big as your ass” from Brandon. I can tell he already hates me and I hate him too but he won’t leave me alone.

The next day me and Brandon were the talk of the school well Brandon was always the talk of the school but I wasn’t. They all seemed scared even while they talked about it. They said that nobody had ever stood up to Brandon and that he always got away with everything but some other people were saying that I shouldn’t have talked back considering he could be really dangerous.

Brandons POV:

I was having a bad day well every day was horrible in my life but today was even worse. There was talk about me and Ashley and it really annoyed me because I felt like it was all her fault and I kind of just ignored it. I still need to get her back for it. There was also a lot of talk about Aiden considering that he was the hot new bad boy and would defeat the current bad boy being me. These two shouldn’t have even come to the school. Ashley and Aiden only cause more drama. Snapping out of my thoughts I turned around to see Amanda. Great just when I thought my life couldn’t get any more miserable.

She was all over me as usual. Amanda Kale the slut of the school that has probably slept with all the boys you see here. “Amanda not right now I’m sick of you as it is!” I tried to push her away. “That’s not what you were saying two nights ago Brandyyy!” She tried to flirt back. After some convincingi gave up. “Tell you what I need a distraction from life right now.” And I think you know what happened after that my usual make outs with girls.

Ashleys POV:

“Ewwww is that Brandon hooking up with a different girl from yesterday?” I told Kass. Kass is a friend I made when I was at detention. “Yeah duhhh he has like a new girl toy everyday. He even-” she replied as I cut her off. “That was more like a rhetorical question. I don’t want the details of the bad boys hookups.” “Well I thought you’d want to know considering you like him” She said. “What no! I hate him” I replied annoyed that she would think I would like someone like him. “So it’s true your the only girl not flattered enough by him. Did you actually talk back to him?” She asked curious. “Why is it such a big deal to everyone? It’s not like he is going to kill me” I asked back.

“He might kill you he’s in a gang.” She replied. “Well my brothers in a gang too. It’s not a big deal. My brothers got my back.” I accidentally spluttered. “So that’s true as well. Your brothers in a gang” I’m telling Kass too much. She’s a really nice friend and idiotic too but I’ve never been that close to my friends. They were all temporary friends anyways. Kass is temporary too. I’m not supposed to let her in but I kind of already did. The bell rang for class and everyone rushed off. Not before giving me weird glances though.

I trudged my way to the next class with Kass. She changed her classes to have the same schedule as me and I was grateful I had a friend like her. This friendship wasn’t going to last so long since I’d probably have to move schools again but I hope we stay in this school a bit longer. It was the first school in which I felt like I had a real and true friend. I move schools a lot because my mum has to move because of work. She earns and works hard for us because our father died which is why Aiden took over the gang and the money he earns from gang work is blood money as my mum says so she doesn’t use it.

You might be thinking then how did we cope even when our father was alive. He worked two jobs and had two lives. The gang life which he only had because he was born in the family of the leaders which meant he had no choice but to be in a gang. The other life being the one with his family. He was honestly not at all the ruthless gang leader everyone thought he was. He was a nice and kind hearted family man. If only the gang that killed him knew that.

Aidens POV:

I was frustrated because we were never supposed to come back to our home town. I wanted to tell Ashley that Brandon’s dad was the one who killed our father and that I wasn’t acting rude for no reason but she shouldn’t know. It would only hurt her more to know that a person she already hates here was the son of a killer, her fathers killer. I told my sister everything and here she was not even knowing that this was our home town. I cleared my mind thinking that Ashley had been through enough with our father. She never ate, slept or did anything for that matter after he died. She wouldn’t want to know the person who killed him.

Ashley’s POV:

I got into my seat in class, we had Science lab and Kass was sitting next to me. “For today’s lesson we have to dissect a frog. It will already be unconscious so don’t worry about it too much. They are sitting in little glass tanks on your desks. Please get started.” Mrs Clementine announced. “Ewwww! I’m not touching that. Could you do it please please Ashley?” Kass shrieked. So I took the frog out of the tank when all of a sudden it leaped at me. I shouted on the top of my voice. It was alive.

I turned behind me to see Aiden doubling over in laughter. “What the hell is your problem?” I shouted at him. “That’s for talking back to me. Nobody gets away with something like that.” He said in between laughs. “Who did such a rude to prank to Ashley over here? Of course I should have known it was you Brandon wasn’t it. Detention both of you!!” Mrs Clementine glared towards us. “Mrs but I didn’t do anything” I tried protesting. “Screaming and swearing are not allowed in class so don’t try and convince me otherwise because this is in the rule book. Now continue with the book work I’ll get you a new frog to dissect” She said this time glaring at me.

I had after school detention again and I thought my time in this school was going well. I guess not.
