Sick

I look outside to see rain, drip, drip, dripping on my window. It was the first day of school again, going to into 6th grade. I was nervous, partly because I never want to age, and partly because my best friend has to transfer to a different school. I’m stuck in the same stupid school while my friend leaves me. I felt sick to my stomach to hear this news.

The thermometer was in the lower cabinet in the bathroom, tucked under boxes of soap and lotion bottles. The old trick of holding the thermometer to a hot lamp worked like a charm. Now, my mom is usually smart, but I don’t think she was in the mood to think it through. I really didn’t want to go to school... I used my best acting skills to act like I was feeling ill. I was being droopy, sad, and DRAMATICALLY pretended to suffer every minute of my life. I was not going to school today, I refused to.

I ate snacks in my bed while watching a huge throwback to childhood, Lilo and Stitch. Staying home from school was the best. School made you work all day, use your brain and stuff. Eating junk food and watching movies is WAY better than what school has to offer. It had stopped raining, and I was so very tempted to play outside. But that would sell out the fact that I didn’t actually have a temperature of 102 degrees. I decided after the movie was over to take a nice little nap. And hopefully this time, have a peaceful rest.
