Prologue
It was dark out and the wind didn’t dare breath. The animals didn’t even take a peak out. The trees didn’t sway and the leaves refused to fall.
They could sense the danger. They could feel the magnitude of death coming.
Nature knew something was coming and that it was coming to Ridgewood. The place where nothing happened and all was safe.
That would be proven wrong.
He walked with a grace of superiority and his presence demanded respect. His steps didn’t make a sound as he approached the edge of the forest.
He leaned against a tree and watched the entire town for the cliff/forest edge he was on. The lights of the town were bright and he nearly laughed at how quiet it all seemed.
He chuckled at the thought that the people thought they were safe. He knew that no one was safe, not as long as he was alive.
“Master Weston, we’ve scooped out the town and found them.” The man nervously said as he stood naked behind his master. He knew one wrong move and he was dead.
“All four of them?” He asked, not looking away from the peaceful town.
“Yes sir.”
He smiled a wicked smile as he turned around and stared at his naked servant.
“Good, go get the others, tell them we settle in by morning.” He told the nervous servant.
The servant nodded and bowed before he shifted into a crow and flew away, towards the town.
The man walked back into the forest with one thought on his mind-
“I think I’ll enjoy my new home.”
