Chapter 1

The Kingdom of Rusea wages war against an evil sorceress named โ€˜Belindaโ€™. Or, what others call her โ€˜The Serpent Witch.โ€™ Beautiful, cunning and deadly. With her long, wavy, and golden-locks hair. Fair skin, icy-cold green eyes and ruby lips. Dresses in a dark gown with a pointed-edge sleeves reaches her hands and bloody-red fingernails.

โ€œHow bored.โ€ Belinda spoke in a calm and eerie tone. Her fleets unable to break the wall that surround the kingdom. โ€œI thought the Kingdom of Rusea had fallen to the ground already. And yet, it still stand.โ€

Curious she is, but was aware that one of her general had came. A shadow demon general.

โ€œMy Mistress,โ€ her general reported. โ€œThe Rusea armies havenโ€™t fallen.โ€

โ€œI can see that for myself, Shades.โ€ Belinda hissed. โ€œBut you didnโ€™t explain why?โ€

โ€œThe Princess of Rusea make things difficult,โ€ he explained, but report something else. โ€œBut that isnโ€™t why I here.โ€

โ€œThen, what is it?!" She growled, demanded he answered and explained his action.

โ€œOne of our scouts saw a ranger with an unusual companion.โ€ He informed her. โ€œWe believe it might be him.โ€

โ€œAre they sure?!โ€ Belinda demanded. โ€œCause, if it is him, we have a problem!!!โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll send the Crow Demons,โ€ said the general unease. He vanishes, leaving Belinda alone in her thoughts.

โ€œIt better not be him,โ€ Belinda said to herself. โ€œIf it is him, the Kingdom of Rusea will defeated me and all my plans of conquered the entire kingdom will be lost.โ€

Full with raged and determined, Belinda scream as she throws a fierce fireball. โ€œHe will not reach the kingdom. Not when Iโ€™m around.โ€

Belinda walk away from her balcony. And, magical slam the door as she went inside.

At Ruseaโ€™s Wood, a small army set camp. Leading them is a young maiden with scarlet hair and sapphire eyes. Tied in a loose braid with neck-long bangs, with a small brown leather band around her forehead. Dress in a black undershirt with a long sleeves, dark green vest and matches gloves. With midnight green trouser and brown knee-high boots, and a brown leather belt that attach itself with a sword.

โ€œPrincess Darlene!โ€ one of the soldier call her.

โ€œSomething a matter?โ€ Darlene asked, without turning.

โ€œOne of our scout spot some Crow Demon at the east,โ€ he informed the princess. โ€œBy the look of things, we expect theyโ€™re searches.โ€

โ€œSearches? For what?โ€ Darlene got curious. And, wondered what they searching? Is it important?

โ€œI donโ€™t know, princess.โ€ the soldier replied. โ€œBut whatever it is, it must be important.โ€

โ€œI agree.โ€ She acknowledges. โ€œSaddle up the horses. Weโ€™re see what the Serpent Witch wants from there.โ€

Darlene walk away before she gives them an order.

Meanwhile, east of the forest. Two male traveler, staying beneath the shadow.

Though the travelerโ€™s skin is tawny, ebony hair braided into a tiny cornrow styled. Wore a charcoal shirt, with ceder trouser and umber boots. And, gray belt around his waist, attach with a small satchel. With an iron-colored hooded-cape. Carried a bow and arrows in his back.

โ€œLooks like the coast is clear, Skull.โ€ he said to his companion. โ€œShould we move now?โ€

His companion is a unique person. He dresses in an eggplant-colored robe with pitch-black shirt and trouser. Brown boots and shadow-colored gloves. But his face, hiding beneath his hood, is a skull. And, his neck is a necklace. Crafted into two snakes as they tied their tails into one with a heart-shaped obsidian stone and wings at each side.

โ€œPatience, Kilic.โ€ Remind his companion, making sure thereโ€™s nothing following them. โ€œWe need to be careful. We donโ€™t know if Belinda or her goons had spotting us yet?โ€

Kilic understand why his companion is concerns. He and his companion had a mission to completed. And, they wonโ€™t let Belinda or her soldiers to stop them from succeeding.

โ€œSo, how much farther, are we?โ€ Kilic wondered. โ€œTo the castle, I mean.โ€

โ€œStill far.โ€ Skull replied, continue to search. โ€œBut it wonโ€™t matter. We need to find-โ€

A monstrous screech got their attention, there they search the sky. Which, frighten Kilic. โ€œWhat was that?โ€

โ€œCrow Demons.โ€ Skull, immediately, recognized the sound. โ€œWhich, means, Belinda knew they here?!โ€

Shocked they became, Skull and Kilic quickly run. Unaware that their present now got the Crow Demonโ€™s attention as they spotted them. With great speed, the Crow Demons flew down as theyโ€™re ready to snatch them. Got a glimpse of what happen, Skull immediately, shove his companion aside. But got snatches, instead.

โ€œSKULL!!!โ€ he shouted, realizing what just happen. โ€œHang on.โ€

Skull was in the midair, but still heard his companion. โ€œEasy for you to say.โ€

Darlene and her army marches, one of her soldier, saw something in the air.

โ€œPrincess,โ€ the soldier cried. โ€œUp in the sky.โ€

The princess looks. โ€œWhatโ€™s that?โ€

โ€œIt appears to be a creature,โ€ the soldier replied. โ€œAnd, itโ€™s holding something?โ€

Darlene hum. โ€œIf so, why did it a human?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t know, miss.โ€ He answered, wonderingly. โ€œWhatโ€™s your order?โ€

โ€œShoot it.โ€ Darlene implied. โ€œWe canโ€™t let it capture our citizens.โ€

โ€œAt once, my lady.โ€ The soldier bowed. โ€œYou heard the princess said, shoot it.โ€

The soldiers carry their duties, Darleneโ€™s mind wanders. Whatโ€™s the Serpent Witch want? Why sends her monster? Is there a reason?

โ€œIโ€™ll get my answer,โ€ Darlene whispered, watches her soldiers shoot the beast. โ€œIโ€™m sure someone will explain after weโ€™re rescued the citizen.โ€

In thin air, hanging by the Crow Demonโ€™s talons, Skull wonders if Kilic is planning to save him. If so, how? Thatโ€™s the question he shouldnโ€™t ask.

An arrow appear, taking aim to them. Surprise, they are. Skull regret for that question. โ€œMe and my big mouth.โ€

At first, he thought it Kilic but numerous arrows appear as it fire towards him and the Crow Demon.

โ€œOkay, not Kilic.โ€ Curious who shooting at them, until he realizes something. โ€œMust be Rusea army.โ€

The Crow Demon still have Skull in its talons. Unaware that its grip is loose as Skullโ€™s clothes is begun to tear. However, its captive notices.

โ€œNot good.โ€ Skull sound frighten than his worries. โ€œIf one of those arrows hit-โ€

Just as Skull predict, an arrow strike and the Crow Demon let go of its captive. As it screeches in pain, Skull yelled; โ€œItโ€™s the end for mmmeeeee!!!โ€

Kilic run. Hopes to save his companion from Belinda, the Serpent Witch. But once a scream caught heโ€™s attention, he looks up and saw Skull fallen.

โ€œOh, boy.โ€ Kilic was stunned. โ€œHold on, Skull! Iโ€™m coming!โ€

Kilic begun to run, quicker than before. Unaware, that Princess Darlene and her army were heading where Skull has landed. Hopefully, somewhere safe and unharmed.

Skull was lucky. Not only heโ€™s safe or in clutches of Belindaโ€™s beasts, but fell into a river. Wet, but safe and unseen by everyone.

โ€œI better find Kilic.โ€ He whispered, getting himself out of the water. โ€œBefore anyone can find me. Or worst, one Belindaโ€™s beasts.โ€

Just as Skull was about to leave, something caught his attention and turn. He wishes he hadnโ€™t. Cause now, he saw some armed soldiers and a scarlet woman in the front of the line. Attractive she is, but fearsome. Skull was grateful his hood remains on his head before he fell and out of the water.

โ€œStated your business, traveler!โ€ The scarlet one demanded, pointing her sword to him.

โ€œSimple a traveler whoโ€™s passing and not drawing too much attention.โ€ He replied, lowering his hooded by his hand as he prevents anyone from seeing his face. โ€œAnd, it seems I didnโ€™t do a good job.โ€

โ€œI can see that for myself.โ€ She seems convince but in her eyes she is not. โ€œAnd yet, your story isnโ€™t promising. So I ask you once more; Stated your business?!โ€

โ€œIโ€™m telling the truth.โ€ Skull raised both his hands, persuade her without any suspects. But fate has other plans. โ€œThat giant bird just grab me for no-โ€

โ€SKULL!!!" He froze. After hearing and recognizing his companionโ€™s voice, Skull slowly turn. There he instinct proves it. Kilic appears, unaware of his surrounds as he run.

โ€œKilic,โ€ he moaned, quietly. โ€œPlease, look before saying.โ€

โ€œThank goodness,โ€ Kilic was relieved. โ€œA minute ago, I was worried that one of Belindaโ€™s creature has already delivered you to her by now.โ€

โ€œYou idiot.โ€ he muttered, fully aware that his companion listened. And, wondered what Skull meant and why he raises his hands. Until, he looks.

โ€œOh boy,โ€ Kilic groaned, seeing the sight of the armies at front. โ€œWeโ€™re in trouble, arenโ€™t we?โ€

โ€œWhat do you think?โ€ Skull sneered.

Kilic wailed, knowing his answers. This is not what they expected.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
