Run rabbit run

The suns early morning raise seeped through Arias little window lighting up her small box bedroom and bathing her in the heat of this June morning. Today seemed to be starting off as a nice hot day but there was still time for it to change. Aria awoke with a jolt she had that dream again, every time a faceless stranger would save her from the dutys her farther entrusted her with. Normally princesses wouldn't do much but sit there and look pretty until the day she would be auctioned off to the strongest soon to be alpha.

Sweat slowly trickled down her bare arms reminding her that soon she would be at the right age to be sold to the highest bidder, if only she could run from all the responsibilities of being a werewolf princess however the only way to do that would be to go rogue making yourself an enemy to all wolfs.

Without the protection of a pack would also leave you vulnerable to all the werewolves enemy's, the vampires being at the top of that list. Although you dont normally see vampires in the mountains one step into civilisation and your dead, the vampire blend well with the humans Also they can spot out a wolf from miles away. There the biggest threat because even though werewolf have the best sense off smell vampires can descise there sents and take on a human smell therefore making it harder for the wolfs to detect.

Soon enough it was time for Aria to start her early morning training with the packs best soldier and her fathers Bata. Ezra the Bata, strong, mean and ruthless he was a force to be recond with, if he was born royal he would have been one hell of an alpha unstoppable even that's why the alpha chose him to be his Bata long ago.

Ezra had never taken it easy with princess Aria and she like that, to be treated like any other wolf in there pack is all she wanted and she got it with him. Training to be a stronger wolf ment everything to her it ment that she would one day not need a big stong alpha to protect her but until then she would have to put up with her fathers ways.

Being the only female in the family although she was the second eldest of the five siblings she was still treated like the baby. Her older brother prince Devon was the second in command of the small army in the pack and very protective over his little sister always keeping her in his sights and ready to step in when he thought she was in trouble which was most of time. Aria had a big mouth that got her into sticky situations.

Princess Arias training consisted of strength tests on Monday, endurance tests on Wednesday and stamina test on Friday, today was friday which meant she would be running the boarder lines around her fathers territory. It would take her ten minutes to run the full course even with super speed, Aria wasnt the fastest wolf in the pack but she was sure to rub it in her brother's face that she was faster then them. Ezra on the other hand was one of the fastest passing her at least twice as she ran around her home land.

"It doesn't matter how fast you are it means nothing if you can only run for a short period of time eventually your enemy would catch you" Ezra would always say to her but it was easy for him to say that he could run fast and for quite some time too. Often leaving her in the dust as he past her without breaking a sweat. From start to finish Aria would give it her all even sometimes breaking her best record but it was never good enough for her, she always thought she could do better, be better.

Two hours past quickly and to say she was worn out would be an understatement, her legs felt like jello and ready to collapse at any moment, her heart rate was still working overtime along with her breathing that was still coming in short pants. With a huff she fell to the green grass beneath her thankful for the support it gave her, threading her fingers through the short ish blades of grass feeling the peaceful hum of nature mixed with the sounds of the late morning birds, Aria felt calmest when she was at one with the world around her.

The alphas house wasnt very big werewolves didn't care for all the material things in life they often lived of the land catching animals like rabbits, deers and growing there own vegetables to cook. Electricity was non existent too they would cook over a big fire pit with a spit roast for what ever animal they had captured that morning and small camp fires dotted around the grounds for people to sit around chatting about there day. As soon as the sun would set the children would be tucked up in there beds leaving the adults to have sometime to themselves or to run threw the forest in there wolf forms. For Aria the cover of darkness is what she waits for all day, the chance to run beyond the boards to explore the world without supervision. She loved to watch how other creatures lived although she was always careful not to get too close just in case there was vampires around.

The different smells and sounds of the busy mundane life intrigued her she would hear the humans talk about coffee and cakes and even though she didn't know what they were she would love to taste them, she promised herself she would one day. Aria could picture it in her mind walking down one of those busy streets with a coffee in hand going God knows where smiling at anyone who would pass by her.

Once everything was quiet outside she grabbed her little backpack filled with spare clothes and leftover deer sandwiches and snuck out of her home through the back door which faced the densest part of the forest. She had a little spot an hours run from here were she could watch the humans far away from them and her pack, it was secluded nobody knew about her little spot making it the best place.

Sitting down on the rock she always sits on she got out her sandwiches and began dreaming about a world without war where she could go anywhere and not worry about who might attack or kill her. Creeping footsteps pulled her from the day dream making her look around and seek out what was awake with her in the forest, most of the creatures that lived in here were daytime animals that would shy away from wolfs but these footsteps were getting closer to her.

Frightened Aria did the only thing she could think of. Run. The only problem was she wasnt running towards her safe home she was making a b-line straight for civilisation. She past small wooden shacks and campsites the humans often use for hunting, still too scared to stop and listen for the footsteps she kept going until she ended up in a small clearing. The forest surrounded the little open space making it the best place for an ambush and knowing this made Aria even more tense, she was constantly looking around her trying to hear anything coming for her but her heart beating rapidly was too loud. Aria couldn't concentrate she was to scared, all alone far from her pack they wouldn't even hear her if she screamed. She was making herself dizzy constantly spinning around searching for any threat that was coming her way and not seeing the threat that was right under her feet.

The humans had planted bear traps all over this small clearing whilst trying to decrease the black bear population they thought they had, it wasnt the black bears that plagued these mountains it was werewolfs but the humans didn't know that, they didnt even know they existed. Aria was close to proving to them that they did though as she took another step straight into one of the traps. Yelpping out in pain as the traps teeth closed on her leg instantly drawing blood. The trap scraped her bone threading to crush it I'd she didnt free her leg soon, no matter how much she tried she just couldn't open the traps mouth. Picking up a rock she tried smashing it but the steel wouldn't even dent so she tried wedging it in between the teeth to relieve the pressure of her leg. The rock did provide some space but not enough for her to pull her leg free if she did it now it would strip her leg bare of skin, werewolves do heal fast yet skin can not heal if it's non existent it would require a skin graft to replace it.

Aria thought her best chance was to wait hope a hunter would wonder by and pray she wouldn't transform in front of the humans. The moon was setting lower and lower in the sky soon her family would wake up and realise she wasnt there, send out a search party that would endanger everyone in her pack a vampire could easily follow them back undetected. Frantically Aria search around her were her arms could reach for anything that could get her out of this trap, not to far was a thick branch she could use to pry it open, kneeling down she stretched for the stick grasing it with the tips of her fingers. Just as she managed to get a hold of it a larger leather boot stood on the peace of wood snapping it in half, Arias eyes followed the boot upwards until she was staring at a pale face. Almost black eyes stared back at her with curiosity like he'd never seen a woman before but it wasnt the fact she was a girl that made him curious, he had never smelt blood like hers it was the sweetest he had ever smelt and it was coming out of her leg fast. Aria had been in the bare trap a good couple off hours and even though it's long teeth had only punched her skin leaving small holes she had bled enough for it to cover half her leg and seeped through her shoe.

As soon as his eyes scanned her leg Aria knew what he was, his eyes turned a reddish brown colour indicating the tall vampire was hungry. Against all reason and common sense the vampire knelt down next to her and opened the trap freeing her from it, in doing so the vampire had gotten Arias blood on his hands staring at it as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

Aria stood as tall as she could balancing on one leg trying not to look scared, she may know what he is but she was quite sure he had not figured out what she was yet. Unbalanced and in pain she swayed from side to side gravity pulling her blood down towards her leg and not her brain she felt week and light headed, before she could fall the vampire using his speed pulled her to his chest keeping her upright and steady. He had completely forgot about the sweet smelling blood on his hands and was concentrating on Aria.

"Are you okay" he whispered moving her long brown hair away from her face so he could see her eyes, emerald eyes so bright they could light up the sky way better then the sun could ever dream of doing he though, still the sent of her blood lingered under his nose she couldn't be human.

Aria had grabbed onto the vampires leather jacket for dear life although unsure if it was because of the bear trap that made her feel week or the vampire that was holding her upright. This was the first time aria had ever seen a vampire never mind being this close to him to her he didnt look as evil and dangerous as her father had made out her whole life, he looked young handsome with his strong jaw line that was covered in a could of days worth of stubble. His eyes looked soft when he looked at her no longer red they had changed back to there normal dark colour.

Before Aria answered the vampire she took one look at her leg seen it had healed just leaving her torn jeans and sock up the remaining blood, "yes I think so" even though she tried to come across strong and confident her voice was quiet. The vampire let her stand on her own staying just close enough to catch her if she fell, he wanted nothing more then to keep her in his arms for a little long, something about her intrigued him he wanted to know her most of all he wanted to know how she tasted, if her blood was as sweet as it smelt.

The moon had long gone now leaving the sky getting replaced by the sun, the raise were fast approaching Aria and the vampire leaving her to wonder what happens to vampires in the sunlight, she found it out when she watch the line of light creep up the vampires legs not stopping until every part was bathed in light. Well he wasnt burning or bursting into flames she thought but he did look like he was in a little bit of pain. "What will happen if you stay here" curiously she couldn't help but ask confirming to her that she knew meaning she had to be supernatural because humans didnt know about vampires either.

A small smile played on his lips making him forget about the sun for just a moment, "slowly it will drain my energy until theres nothing left" he replied to her stepping towards her he wanted to be close to her even if he didnt know why. He had never felt this way towards any of the girls back home in fact he hated most of them, they thought because they were vampires they could parade around the castles wearing close to nothing and men would throw themselves at them, he didnt want a girl like those he knew he wanted one with self respect a girl who would tell the men no and stick up for herself and he could see that in Aria.

"What's your name?" He asked her reaching out for her hand.

"Aria and yours" her skin tingled when he touched her sending shocks through her entire being.

"Jason"
