Only in America can one have a dream deferred by a people full of hate who used others just so they can be great. So in all Lovette has learned that the fire in your eyes, tells a story that you just can't hide. Beneath your skin you hide your pain. Under pressure, you sink into depression. Chapter 1 Racism Introduced and Defined

Lovette could remember like it was yesterday. Another day trying to make a dollar. That was Lovettes mom. She would get up extra early in the morning just to fall on her knees to give God thanks for saving her from the clutches of sin. After giving God thanks her mother would make what breakfast she could put together and feed Lovette, normally mom would fast, so she did not eat anything. Than she would say in her stern voice. Mommy has to go to work. I don't have a sitter right now so you will have to go with mommy. You cannot let my boss see you she stressed. Lovette looked up at her mom with her beautiful black marble eyes and ask why can she not see me. With a tear rolling down her left cheek, her mother says because racism still exists.
