Cinders
Ash was everywhere. The kingdom was completely on fire. The volcano that loomed over the kingdom was spewing out large amounts of rock and fire. Lava engulfed the houses the innocent civilians of the kingdom once lived in. The girl and boy ran as fast as they could through the crumbling village as people frantically were panicking. The girl and boy ran towards the glowing portal in front of them. The boy cried out to the girl holding onto him,"We're almost there Lyla! Hold on just a little bit longer! We can make it!" The girl held a glowing blue ball in her hand tightly as she ran. She started to cough from the ash getting into her lungs.
A black figure with glowing yellow eyes and obsidian black skin then started to come upon them rise from the lava. It laughed evilly as it looked at the boy and girl run frantically. It then spoke in a husky voice,"You cannot run from me forever, you foolish children! My power far exceeds that of your worthless sea magic! Surrender now!" The girl screamed as the lava came rushing towards them at an alarming speed,"Lazarus!" The boy yelled in anger to the obsidian black figure,"Me and my sister shall never surrender to your tyranny you monster!" Blue dust then swirled around his fingers as it turned into the waters of the sea. He spoke in a singsong voice,"Powers of the sea come unto me, from the blue depths below! Send this unholy volcanic demon from whence it came from and have it harm us no more! So shall it be by the holy goddess, Neria!" The boy then thrust the tsunami-like waves of water upon the black figure in the lava with all of his strength. The figure screamed in panic as the water poured down onto her with incredible force.
The boy, Lazarus, then knelt down in exhaustion and breathed heavily. He turned to his sister, Lyla who was standing before him with concern,"That should hold her off for just enough time." Lyla spoke worriedly,"Lazarus, you can't keep doing that! You are going to drain all of your power before we even get through the portal!" He spoke tiredly,"It...had...to be done." The figure then glared at Lazarus with glowing yellow eyes,"You...little...foolish boy...I shall show you...what I do to those who disobey me!" A wave of lava then rose up behind the figure and came towards Lyla and Lazarus. Quickly, Lazarus pushed his sister through the portal and himself into the portal after her before the lava could catch up to them. The portal then disappeared without a trace. The black figure's eyes widened as she yelled in anger,"Run all you like, children of the sea. One day, I will find you both again sooner or later. And when that day comes, I will make you wish you were never born into this cursed world!" She then turned and looked at the entire city engulfed with flames and cackled evilly.
