Prologue
Ruby POV:
I woke up to a loud ringing in my ears, pain wracking through my body. My whole body was shaking, beads of sweat dripping into my eyes as I tried to compose myself. Right when I thought the pain had stopped, another wave of pain crashed into my body, causing a high pitched scream to tumble from my dry lips. I heard fast footsteps come approach me. I heard voices, but the pain drowned them out. I writhed around on the ground begging for the pain to go away.
“Please! Make it stop.” I cried. I felt my self being lifted off the ground by muscular arms and a familiar scent engulfed me. I relaxed slightly and snuggled into the warmth of the person. Eventually I felt the exhaustion settle into my veins and closed my eyes. Right before I fell into the abyss of unconsciousness I heard it, the sound of gunfire.
