I ran.

Not quite sure where, but I’d be damned if I let that stop me. All I knew was, is, that I had to get there in time...to save him.

After what felt like an eternity I began to get this feeling I was getting nowhere. To my surprise a door appeared in front of me. I didn’t question how it got there or when it got there I just turned to doorknob without hesitation. The door swung open and there he was. He stood there with his famous smile that said β€˜everything is gonna be okay’ and he opened his arms wide waiting for me to give him a hug β€œJazz” he whispers slowly β€œI’ve been waiting for you.” I didn’t even realize I was crying until I felt something wet fall onto my cheek. I sighed in relief and went to go hug him. This time I didn’t just feel like I was getting know where I knew it. I couldn’t move. I tried to call out his name and yet to my efforts my voice failed me and I couldn’t breathe. Everything was happening in slow motion. I tried to reach out but it was too late.

I jolted up from my bed in a cold sweat.

β€˜It was just a dream’ I thought.

I reached up to touch my face and felt the wetness on my cheek.

β€˜Well at least that much was real’ I sighed.

I turned my head to look at the clock,

5:28am. I whined at the fact that I had only gotten half an hour of sleep.

β€˜Well I might as well start my miserable routine of a life’

get up,

take a shower,

look at myself in the mirror for ten minutes,

(I couldn’t deny how attractive I was but my looks never made me feel any better about my life.)

get dressed,I decided on wearing black leggings, a white t-shirt, and his grey sweatshirt, which of course looks big on me but I don’t mind it makes me feel safe. Anyway back to my routine..

head downstairs,

poke at my breakfast while my nagging parents speak,

nod pretending to hear them,

I grab my stuff and run off before my chauffeur can fetch the car, I walk to school instead of catching my usual ride in the limo (who takes their limo to school anyway)

I arrive at school and go to my the schools garden,

wait for 8am which is when Joy will get here, my best friend only friend (by choice, everyone was dying to be my friend, mainly cause of my family, but had steered clear of me since my last episode. Nobody dared to even do much as look my way, other than Joy)

leave the garden seeing as it is 8am already,

go to our meeting spot only to see Joy already there with a smile on her face. She ran up to me and gave me a hug. Despite how many times she’s hugged me before I’ve still never gotten used to the affection so I gently pat her back in return. β€œOmg Jazz! You’ll never believe what happened on the weekend-β€œ she started. I zoned in and out in her speech. Back to the routine,

we started walking to class together,

someone bumped into me- wait what? Impossible. Everyone at school avoided me like the plague. Who would dare-

β€œOuch” says an unfamiliar voice I looked up shocked at his boldness for getting this close to me. I squint my eyes at the handsome face and furrow my eyebrows.

β€œWatch where you’re going.” I snap, I go to move around him when he latches onto my arm.

β€œYou bumped into me! A simple sorry would’ve sufficed.” He sneers, I look at him widening my eyes and yanking my arm back.

β€œLet me get this straight.” I start β€œYou bump into me, accuse me of it, and demand an apology?!” I glare daggers at him, he glares right back at me, challenging me by never breaking eye contact. β€œCorrect, except it was YOU who bumped into me.” He announces looking amused. I step toward and cross my arms accepting his challenge. I feel a soft hand on my shoulder and hear Joy speak softly, β€œCmon Jazz..He’s not worth it, let’s just get to cla-β€œ

β€œNo! This uninformed tacky looking asshole just bumped into me, questioned my character, and demanded an apology like some sort of victim! I won’t have it!”

He scoffs β€œLook Jazz? Is it?”

β€œIt’s Jazmine to you.” I correct, lacing my voice with poison

β€œWell Jazmine.” He says, testing the sound on his tongue β€œyou have one hell of a mouth on you. Anyway I won’t have you insulting me when we both no damn well I look nowhere near tacky!” He exclaims

β€œOh! And would you look at that, he’s a cocky bastard too!” By now we have a crowd, watching us in anticipation. The bastard who bumped into me clenches his jaw and opens his mouth to say something, but before he can..

β€œHey! What are you kids doing?! Get to class!” And just like that the crowd splits up. I glare at the bastard’s handsome face again only to see him smirking. I turn my back in an attempt to grab Joy’s hand and escape.

β€œOh no you don’t Ms. Meyerz!”

I sigh and tell Joy to go without me. I turn around facing the balding pudgy man.

β€œMr. Saunders what a pleasant surprise.” I say not even bothering to hide my attitude or sarcasm. This time it’s his turn to sigh as he says β€œBoth of you, in my office. Now.”
