Three Weeks Ago...

I had got a test from Sam. Sam was an old friend from college. I was a year and a half older then he was, but we had a few classes together. Same with Jess. After she died, Sam was lost. He left college with only a year left. I had just graduated and knew he wasn't doing well. He still texted me here and there, but this one was different.

Hey, Maddy. It's Sam. I got a new number again. I was wondering since I am passing through town if you want to meet for lunch?

I was surprised that Sam was back in town. Well, he says he is just passing through. It's been awhile since I've heard from him last. I shot him a text.

That sounds great, Sam. It's good to hear from you. How about Gabbie's Diner? When will you be passing through?

As I waited for his response, I took a shower and got dressed for the day. When I was done, I checked my phone. There was a text message from Sam.

I'll be in town later today. Sorry it's last minute. Gabbie's sounds nice. How's 12:30?

I shot another response.

OK. Sounds good. See you then!

The morning flew by and it was already noon. I grabbed the keys of the counter and locked the door as I went out. I made my way down the apartment stairs and through the hallway. As I exited the apartment building, I looked both ways to cross the street so I could get to my truck. When I crossed the street, I got in and started it up. I drove to Gabbie's Diner and asked for a booth.

Sooner or later Sam arrived. He walked in and looked around. When he spotted me, he walked over to the booth. before he could sit down, I stood up and gave him a big hug.

"How're you, Sam?" I asked in a happy voice. "I've missed you."

He gently pulled out of the hug. "I've been good. How are you?"

I sat down and he followed. "I've been.... bored. Life here isn't the same. It sucks. My college degree got me nowhere and I've been working here for awhile now."

"It still sounds better than being on the road with your brother all the time." He laughed. "I hate being around Dean for so long."

"Why do't you just leave?" I knew it was a stupid question and I understood why it was. That's his brother. Family will always be family and you can't just leave them.

"It's complicated." Sam rubbed his forehead. "We've been trying to find my dad. He went off the grid and it's hard. Dean is doing worse than I am. He was always closer with dad and now that he's gone, Dean is miserable."

"Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I know some about Dean from what you've told me and he doesn't seem like the emotional type." I laughed.

Sam laughed, too. "Yeah, well when it comes to our dad... Dean is emotional."

We chatted for about two hours, then we had to part our separate ways. I wished him luck finding his dad, then I left. I knew it would be awhile until I heard from Sam again. He was always busy with his brother. From what I remember, Sam had always hated his brother. I guess that changed.

I never knew what this visit with Sam Winchester would bring me in the future.......

My Blacksmith Savior

Vampire: Great story. Clear plot line and very interesting. Characters are lovely and well made. Amazing writing skills and grammar. Only thing that was a little bit too much is the repetition but I guess it's a writing style? Anyways I love it definitely recommend it!
