The first one appeared in seas near Germany in the early 1940s, bringing the second world war to an abrupt end. A giant monster, an elk large enough to make the North Sea look like a small lake. The elk took one step onto the shore of Germany, and in return, Germany exhausted the greater part of its military holding it back as it walked ashore. Finally, they asked for the aid of the world. As a result of the battle, Germany became a landlocked region just north of Austria and much of northern Europe became an irradiated wasteland following a series of nuclear bombing from the U.S forces. The Elk died on its feet and is still decaying refusing to even kneel.
By 1950, Japan had gained a mysterious war technology that to their enemies resembled magic. In their conquest, they took over the entirety of Asia, the eastern shore of Africa, and the western half of North America. In the next 20 years, the appearance of giant monsters became common and the world relied on Japan's great power to handle them. All the while the prowess of Japan's technology grew and grew and soon surpassed the space age.
On July 6th, 1976, a cataclysm occurred. It was almost as if the world itself rotted, Japan's territories began to change rapidly. The buildings crumbled and the animals rotted as they walked before eventually crumbling to chunks of flesh. The people suddenly aged and faded to dust. There was no known cause and most of their technology was lost. The land became covered in a black toxic fog and would never be inhabitable again
The Monsters continued to attack and the planet was left with little in the ways of being able to handle them. Australia and Africa were completely surrendered to the magnificent beasts. The remaining military might of the world was unable to keep up with their rapid appearances. However, bizarre heroes with the power to fight off the Monsters began to make themselves known. Their growing number made it almost seem as like the universe itself was creating them to level the playing field.
The first hero called himself "Quaker" and took on a Giant Horse alone on the shore of new jersey. With the help of his bow staff, he split the ground beneath the gulf open and the world swallowed the monster. He sunbathed on the shore until the United State's military finally arrived. He removed his sunglasses and cooly offered them a bowl of oatmeal.
The rapidly popping up heroes organized into a council, with Quaker at the head. The council became a great world power, defending the world from any and all giant monster attack. The world looked up to them as if they were gods, and the secret to being invited to the council was the world's best-kept secret. The council grew and grew to reach over 100 members by the early 2000s and is handed exclusive powers by every world leader.
And soon the very nature of what the average person finds commonplace, their trust and their world, will be shaken to the core. And on this unique and bizarre stage, who better to play the role of our protagonist, what greater irony, than an average person.
