Chapter 1
It was around 10am when the boys woke up. There laughter filled there bedroom as I walked pass , before I went down the steps they were bounding behind me. "What's for breakfast today Qae?" Both Roman and West asked in unison. "Well if you let me get down the stairs without tripping I'll tell you." Was all I said before going into the kitchen.
It was colder than usual do to the broken heater. I already had three plates of eggs and bacon on the table before I went to wake them. They both jumped in delight as they ran to counter to get the biggest plate. We were in a comfortable silence for about 10 minutes before it was mentioned. " Who do you think will be chosen today?" West blurted out to me and Romans' surprise. "We will know soon enough won't we." I said trying to hide the fear and curiosity in my voice. "We have to leave in about 20 minutes any way." Was all I could get out before the boys ran up the steps into there rooms to change.
I walked back down stairs in a black lace crop top covering my deep red bra. My ripped jeen shorts and military style boots matched perfectly for me. The boys proceed down stairs with the lables in hand ready to be stamped on. Now that they were ten they would go into the system. Me and the boys hopped into the Chevy and pulled from the curb until we reached down town. The stadium was over run with people of all ages from 14 to 25. I was only 19 so if I could go 6 more years without being chosen then I would be good. (Unlikley)
A tall and thin looking lady walked across stage in a skin tight dress that perfectly matched her skin tone. The croud went silent emediently and you could feel the Strictness rolling off her in waves. Her shoes were the sharpest I've ever seen. She was a total "Karen". Thalia taped the mic with her long nail and proceeded to talk. "As you all know, today will be the day when we choose six people from the ages of 14 to 25 to become a member of Xeria. We can not disclose any more detailing from this point forward." She called one of her assistants over and had them roll in a camera that projected to the screen behind her.
Thalia clicked on the computer in her hands and proceeded. "I'm hear to say that this year's chosen are the following." When the names were listed there picture was played on the screen. " Dylan monk, blaire fearman, Kyson Bricker, lakasha ricklefs, Quae Marlin, and ... Adrian bronsen ." Fear struck me faster then I could blink. My brothers turn to me with worried faces. I grabbed there hands and started to back up before I felt to strong cold hands grip my shoulders.
"Run boys, run!" I screen and struggle. I felt a sharp pain in my neck and reached my hand back to pull out a needle. My head started throbbing and every thing turned blurry. I fell to my knees and let the darkness grasp it's hold on me.
