Centering

The rain never stops brewing a storm. It gives you a warning before the thunder cracks through the sky sending shivers down your spin and claims it's place.

Don't you ever ignore the rain. Or you'll end up like me.

She was my wakeup call; something like an amber alert. Screaming at me to get away, to escape while it was still a drizzle. Yet I ignored all the signs she delivered to me over and over again. I thought she was a light that had finally entered my life. But she was just here to deliver the final blow. Before the stampede.

The last thing I remember was the hotel in Montreal, Canada. No, before that. I was stuck in a dark room with rough jagged grey walls. My hands were tied behind my back and my hair was a mess showing my attempts to fight back.

I was sent to Canada on a mission to intercept a human trafficking trade off and hopefully find a lead on the person who operates. However, my curiosity got the best of me and I stumbled into their underground walkway surrounded by six tall, buff men. The fact that I had a gun and badge on me didn't help the case either.

I was easily put down and captured, but that still didn't stop me from trying to complete my mission. My agency would drop me faster than butter if they learned I was captured. They don't have time with failures. And I wasn't going to fail everyone.

So I was on my own. I take into account every detail I have time to process. Through a tunnel underground, they walk me to an abandoned building made of red bricks that has become their current hideout and temporary headquarters. Everything was a mess, there were papers all over the floor from whatever previously occupied the building. The men had their weapons and liquor all over the place on top of desks next to bookshelves. They laid back in the chairs and kicked their feet up on the desk to show they had control.

They didn't even bother to cover their faces while they paraded me around the whole place showing me off as a trophy. I was shoved around to every desk for everyone to get a close look at me.

Feminine, with curves and long black hair that would make me blend in with any crowd. Chocolate brown eyes that were reflective and turned into honey when light shone on them. Tall with red short and chipped nails as proof I was too busy to care.

After having their fun with boosting their ego, they shoved me into that dark room with nothing inside of it. I move around the room and try to touch every corner and edge to feel if there was something that could aid me. I couldn't even find a light switch. All the room had was me, and a door knob locked from the outside.

There was nothing inside of that room.

A couple of minutes later a half drunk man cracks the door open allowing the bright and blinding sun to flood into the room. He shoves in another woman the same way he did to me. Within the few seconds the light shone on her, I was entranced.

She was a little shorter than me. Brown hair with pools ocean blue eyes anyone could get lost and hypnotized in. I started to get lost in them. Then I got distracted by her plum pink lips painted over with a deep shade of red. Her essence was centering. She calmed me and the thousands of thought, words and numbers that flowed through my head daily. She put all of that in a box and allowed me the freedom of only one thought.

The radiation of heat from her own body warmed me.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...

Sharda: I really enjoyed the pace of this story. It was mostly realistic, but It was tough to wrap my head around that a 13-year-old boy would be so intuitive and a friend to his mom. My 13-year-old daughter is super smart and says I am her best friend so I guess it is possible. I struggled because boys usu...
