Summary

“Who are you?” I cried looking at the handsome man who suddenly appeared next to me. My hidden savior. A devil of my own here to help me. Death. Fire. More death. “I wish for it to stop. My sisters wish was revenge. So for her, I wish for revenge.” “Your wish is my command.” He says bowing. Making a deal with a devil isn’t always easy. But this deal will turn out to be worth it.

Chapter 1

I’m running, running. A minute ago my sister called me saying this would be the last time I would be able to see her. After that I started running and haven’t stopped.

I make it to my sisters house to find the lights on like usual. Everything looks normal. I head to my sisters room. I scream at what I see: My sister lying in her own blood-drawn pentagram, knife in hand.

“Margo! What happened to you!” I choke on the sobs I’m trying to hold back.

Tears streaming down our faces she answers me, “We’ve had too much suffering, too much pain. I’m gonna make this right sis. For you.” As she shuts her eyes I sob.

“No, no, no! Margo! You’re not aloud to leave me! Not like mom! Not like dad! You can’t leave! I need you.” I sob as I drop next to my sisters dead body. Noticing I’m sitting in her blood I scream and jump back. Running out of the apartment with tears rolling down my face I head to my favorite spot.

Climbing up the old tree in front of my burnt-down house I continue my cries. Cursing the world I climb to the highest branch. Ready to join my sister when suddenly I hear a voice.

“Now I know I was a little late but I didn’t know my new master was so eager to die?” The voice sounds masculine and brooding. It calms me as my sobs slow.

“Who are you?” I say pathetically looking up from the ground I was prepared to jump to.

“I’m your guardian Demon. You have to name me.” He says playfully looking at me with searching black eyes. The color of coals.

“Theirs no such thing as guardians. Demons too. Who are you really?” I cry out, throwing my words at him accusingly. None of this is his fault. But I need someone to blame more than myself.

“I truly am a demon. I cannot tell you my original name though. I can tell you I’ve gone by quite a few names. None I can, nor care to remember. Now what do you wish? And what is my name?” He says melodically. Like I should know all of this

Looking back to the ground I mutter, “I don’t have a wish.”

“How do you not have a wish? Didn’t you summon me? With the pentagram?” I sob as he mentions the pentagram.

“Why would I do that! My sister is laying dead in the dam thing.” I choke out, despair ringing in my voice.

I must be quite an sight. My light chocolate hair stuck to my cheeks. Tears rolling out of my big hazel-green eyes.

“I can’t say I’m sorry for your loss but you must answer me. Since she summoned me with her blood and wrote out your name, which I’m assuming is Lucille, you must give me a name and wish.” He says all-too-seriously.

“Yes my names Lucille. But I don’t want you. Your heartless and monstrous. Just let me die.” I mutter as I step forward, falling from the big tree.

As I fall I think to myself I don’t have anyone left, my mothers dead, my sisters dead, and my dads a bastard. There’s nothing left for me. I have no one.

And as I shut my eyes I hear the brooding voice next to me as it says, “You have me.”

I open my eyes to see the devil, flying on wings holding me. Keeping me from falling further, closer to death. And as I look into his eyes I can see what he says is genuine. I can only assume he’s saying these things because I am his new master. But I can’t help but feel a little better, like I’m not forgotten and alone.

I sob into his chest as he holds me tight.
