Chapter 1: The Count Down
June 23, 2019 // Allen Correctional Facility, Allen Parish, Louisiana
7:15am: Lorenzo's roommate Darren sits on his bed above him writing a letter to his girlfriend telling him how he thinks of her 24/7 and he missed her. She hasn't written back since he came in a year ago. Much like other people in his school she believes hes guilty. He's a 19 year old boy serving life for being in the wrong place at the right time. The poor kid was framed for murders he didn't commit. At 17 he just so happened to be with his friends who shot and robbed an elderly couple when they were supposed to be at a party. His friends told him they needed to stop by a friends how when they had tied up and tortured the old couple until they told them where the money was. After they got the money his friends killed the couple in cold blood. Darren was in the car waiting for them when he seen them running out the house with blood all over them and a full bag. Darren's friend Marcus had tossed the gun in the car on his lap before they ran off leaving him on the scene of the crime. A neighbor heard gun shots and called the cops so when they showed he was frozen, scared....terrified with a gun in his hand. Shaking. He was a good kids, good grades, haven't had as much as a parking ticket. Age 17 they had him in Juvie and 18 they sent him here with the big boys. Sad case. The kid almost didn't survive here so Lorenzo had to protect him. Ironic right? The man being charged for allegedly murdering his wife and children is now protecting a child in prison.
