Letter 1 - The girl who loved too late

Dear Heartbreaker,

You fell in love with me when we were just thirteen and maybe if I had loved you sooner, I wouldn’t have been left with a broken heart.

For some reason, I don’t remember when we actually met or the first time we talked, but I wish I did.

I’ll always remember the moment I first saw you though.

It was the first day back from summer break, the first day of 7th grade and I found out that there were some new students at our school which was pretty rare.

Everyone in our grade was talking about it, but mainly about the twin brothers that literally every girl in the seventh grade immediately had a crush on.

When I walked out onto the blacktop with my friends, that’s when I saw you.

You were standing on the other side of the blacktop courts with the twins, but you were the first one I saw.

I thought that all of you were cute — more like attractive. All of the girls had a crush on either one of the twins and had I not liked someone else already, I probably would’ve liked one of you too.

We didn’t talk at all that year, even though we were in the same friend group most of the time. At least I don’t remember if we did or not.

A new girl came to the school and instantly became my best friend, so maybe that’s why we were strangers for the entire year… Maybe it was because I was with my new best friend who was in all the same classes as me.

But no matter what, I lived my life without ever knowing that in the years to come, my heart would be shattered by you… The boy who started off as a stranger.
