A Beautiful Addiction

Summary

This is a poem about love, written by a 14-year-old high school student. I am a beginner, so feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Is explaining love even possible? One may call it an addiction, a necessity, or simply a feeling. I (Bellamy Chandler) wrote this poem to try and elegantly convey some of my feelings about the most powerful - yet sometimes confusing- force on Earth... love.

A Beautiful Addiction

A Beautiful Addiction

Love is a beautiful addiction;

It guides your heart -

Out of broken places.

It draws your eyes -

To things once unseen.

Your mind is free -

Like words just spoken.

Even the waves -

Are puppets to the moon.

But you are free.

Love is a necessity of life;

One may exist -

Without its presence

But cannot truly be alive.

Love is more than just a feeling;

It shows you strength -

To treat great wounds,

And paint over tender scars -

Now concealed,

Not once forgotten.

Love leaves footprints on the soul -

Where memories are placed.

Take my step,

And you shall see -

The beauty I've beheld.
